does this term really wind anyone else up?!!!!

i'm sure it has been on this forum before, but it is something that could almost make my blood boil!!

are WE not all "Yummy mummies"!! we love our kids, care for them, worry about them, ask each other questions & ask for advice about them.....the list is endless!!

so why does the media make out that yummy mummies are famous women only, who regain their svelt size 6 figure in 2 1/2 weeks after having a baby! so what if they are slim and attractive! i bet many women on here are too!

oh, and these yummy mummies occasionally have nannies & leave them for weeks on end to go somewhere exotic!

how many of us would even do that, given half a chance!! i couldnt go anywhere on hol without my 3!

Girls, i think we are the real "Yummy mummies"!!! what do you say!!!

(temper tantrum over!!)

Here here!!

All mummys are yummy, after all our men must have thought that to make us mummy's in the first place lol!
Seriously though we all love our kids endlessly and give so much so we all deserve that yummy mummy title ;\)

Hi - it depends what you think a 'yummy mummy' is? I don't think its a celeb that is a size 0 and never sees her kids. I think its a 'real' woman that is comfortable with herself, loves her kids, would do anything for them (and wouldn't be seen dead at mums and tots without her make up (but not too much make up).) My mum and oh laugh now cos I am a stay at home mum and dont want to get frumpy so when I try new clothes on i always ask them if I look like a yummy mummy!! I think i should look lovely and casual but look like it was no effort!!
I have just finished reading 'the yummy mummys survival guide' by Liz Fraser - It is a great read and her definition of a yummy mummy is similar to what I describe. It is quite a funny book and I couldn't put it down!!

This morning I think I am better described as a slummy mummy. My house needs a good hoover, my ironing pile is HUGE and I forgot to wash Neve's face when I got her dressed. I am however sporting a lovely pedicure at the moment so maybe there is hope........

Here I sit in my nightie, feeding bra and glasses...hair like a tumbleweed...yes we are ALL yummy and those articles are written by men who want women to get back to looking sexy and up for it asap!!! x

The term that really makes my blood boil however is MILF - soooo incredibly degrading. I once saw a girl with a buggy wearing a t-shirt that said MILF - why on earth would you want that on a t-shirt!

i've just taken the kids to school, after getting up at 6 am cos issy coughing again and woke up! did manage a quick bath in all fairness, but not til i got home did i realise i not brushed my hair!

my main concern is that no-one looked at me strangely at school, so i'm thinking it is probably normal for me!

now, on top of my clothes, i also have a delightful helping of baby porridge! Isobel thinks it is such a good laugh to get a mouthful then spray me with it!!

maybe she thinks that is what makes me a yummy mummy!

cheers, issy!! love you too!xxxxx

Well, some days I cant even be bothered to brush my hair and do you know what? I dont care!! lol

Just as well hubby loves me how i am!!

I agree!! Some days i look at myself and make an effort (tie hair back, put nice top on, oh and that's it!) but when i know i am not going out i am in big old linen trousers (sz14/16) which are too big post baby but i can't fit into next size down (boo) and vest with unstraightened hair. I stood on the bus yesterday watching a girl (about 18?) in skinny jeans, sunglasses, trendy scarf arranging her night out and I sighed and thought that used to be me (though not as skinny i'll admit). But i looked at little one who gave me a big smile and thought I have to move on from that life and embrace a new one.
That being said i just don't understand how celebs have a flat tummy after bith. I had a c section so i have a massive expanse of skin ith nowhere to put it although rest of body neary back to normal. Saw Lisa Scott Lee on GMTV and her belly was FLAT just 6 weeks after birth! It's 5 months on and I am going to the gym 3 nights a week and following weight watchers and I am nowhere near that!
Yummy mummy........hmm

Well these size 0 celebs have hairdressers and stylist on demand before they even leave the house with their designer buggies. Oh course they are going to look fab when they lie in til 11am while the nanny deals with the children. They have their personal chefs who whip them up a meal at a moments notice and what really, really BUGS me the most is when they say "oh the weight just dropped off with a combination of breastfeeding and healthy eating".....yeah right they dont spend more then an hour a day with their babies!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh xxx

Well I'm wearing size 14 jeans that are a bit big (12 are too small due to jelly belly, grr) and a top that's a bit too small so my belly looks like a custard slice, got no make-up on, haven't even seen my hairbrush for last 2 days and I'm very suprized I don't scare small children lol!

But my babies love me and I'd do anything for them so I guess I am a yummy mummy...and since my boobs have gone up 2 cup sizes since having lo hubby defo thinks I'm yummy!!

Boo to skinny celebs who say it's soooo easy get back in shape after having the baby I'm fed up of seeing them- I know it's their job to look a certain way but I think it does put pressure on mums. And they have so much help to do it but pretend it's just natural and they didn't really try.

Was good to see that other woman from steps on telly- she's had a baby but isn't skinny and wants to lose weight sensibly. Hurray!

i dont know if it is an old wives tale or what, but there is a saying about baby weight

"9 months on, 9 months off"!

with my first two babies, i never got it all off, but fortunately this time i have!! - it took 8 months, but i am so gald that i can wear my old stuff!

i've done weight watchers at home, from when i was a member before.

i had 3 c/s, and have 2 scars, and i will never be seeing a flat tummy again! i'm a size 12, and never would have looked so good a few weeks after, dietician, personal trainer or not!

i didnt see Lisa Scott Lee on TV, but as lea77 says - she wants to lose weight sensibly! hurrah!!
