hi hun,
Its awful to see los in pain isn't it? and i know what your going through! I've tried all the different brands and nothing worked for my little mister, he got so poorly. but it turned out he was lactose intolerant!

Have you spoken to your HV/DR?? saying that, i saw 4 DRs in total- 3 said nothing was wrong.... thank god the last one listened to me.

Sorry that isn't much help just didn't want to R&R.... hope you manage to sort something out

sma and cow and gate gave dd1 terrible constipation she was pooing toblerone perices!!! tried apttimil and she was fixed within an hour of her first feed! never looked back! ru was on cow and gate comfort cos she had colic and a sensitive tummy, but then found she had reflux and was told by gp not to mix infant gaviscon with the comfort milk, so switched to aptimil and she has been fine on that ever since

Hi hun
When i was in hospital i used sma gold until a midwife told me to use aptamil as sma can cause tummy upsets. At home though all i had was a tub of sma gold incase i couldnt bf and so had to use that but eventually after a couple of months i started using aptamil and it was very good, never any problems with it xx

I'm about to be your one bad thing about Aptimil then hon!! Was recommended it for DS once I'd finished BF but within a day of starting on it he was covered in a rash and screaming in pain after a feed. Being a (slightly naive admittedly!) first time mum I listened to my HV when she said it was colic and changing the milk wouldn't help when I asked about it. We persevered with the milk, rash getting worse and screaming continuing. It took a friend visiting, taking one look at him and me in tears and suggesting we change his milk. We switched to SMA Gold and within 2 feeds the rash had gone and we were both sleeping for England lol! DD was on SMA from 2 weeks old and was fine with it. Think it's a total case of trial and error when it comes to milk and babies but hope you get her sorted soon.

I've had a good experience of Aptimal, but like all things, it doesn't suit everyone.
Many health professionals recommend it as being the closest to breast milk, so ideal for anyone that is switching from bf or mixing methods. SMA Gold has been good for one friend but she did have to formula feed from the start.

Generally they all can have their good points but Aptimal tends to have less negatives from what I've heard.

My little girl is on Aptimil. She loves it and now feeds well although it took a while to get us going, but think that would have been the same no matter what milk she took.

THe only side effect we have from the milk is exploding nappies - one of her nicknames is Princess Poo!!!! However, I'd rather it was this way around rather than constipation to be honest...

Good luck, hope it works...

I use aptamil easy digest for my son. he's mainly breast fed but has two bottles a day, we started with the normal aptamil but he did get very colicy and found it painful to poo, he wld scream and scream every time he pooed or farted. switched to the easy digest and after 2-3 days of things getting a tiny bit worse (it does say this on the tin, itzs their tummy adapting to the new milk) he changed to a completely different baby, happy contented and we hqaven't looked back.
cow and gate do a version called comfortable digest. maybe one of these wld suit urt lo better. but u will find u need a faster flow teat, the size 1 just blocked completely, size 2 wasn't much better but we've found the variable flow work well.

Both my boys have had SMA Gold from birth, then moved onto the SMA White and Progress. Had absolutely no problems with it at all

Each baby is different though and different milks suit different babies.

Do hope you find something that she's happy with soon xx

I tried Aptamil, but this made my daughter really sick so I then switched to Hipp Organic, which is much cheaper, and had now problems whatsoever.

I used SMA Gold for my son and had no problems at all with it. I've used Aptamil with Lyla since she was about 5 weeks old, as a follow-on to BF, and again have had no problems.

Well i expressedfor the 1st 3 weeks and topped up with Aptamil 1, lo was pooing lots and very happy and contented.
I then stopped expressing as wasent producing enuff milk etc etc so gave her solely Aptamil 1 , she was ok for the 1st few days then she didnt poo for 48hrs then explodable poop came!
She screamedthe house down bless herit was horrible. Unfortunatly things didnt get anymore regular so i swapped her onto SMA Gold after so many recomendations from friends and her poop turned to rabbit droppings after initial sucess and relief...........to very small and hard poopies and didnt improve over time either.
So we've finaly changed heronto Aptamil Easy Digest which she has been on for nearly 7 days and fingers crossed things carry on the way they are going...........regular poo's and her colic is SO much better! we have changed her onto Dr Brown bottles tho aswell which has helped im sure too.
All babies are so different with formula but theone thing my HV did say was that Aptamil is the most tolerated formula on the market.
Go with your instint huni, you know your baby best and its all trial n error (hugs)

Lily used aptimil until she was diagnosed with mild reflux and colic, so hv suggested cow and gate comfort 1. Its thicker milk so stays down easier and it's designed for babies with digestive problems. She was certainly never constipated on it. Once she got to 6 months old we went back to aptimil and never had a problem with it.
