Hi,

I have a Moby sling/wrap and am wondering what to dress bubs in when I'm out and about in the cold weather. I can't find much online and wonder how any of you dress their babies.

I have a pair of Ugg boots (generous gift) so I'm good to stop his feet getting cold, but I don't know whether to put him in a thick jersey jacket or just a couple of layers of indoor clothes. Also, what coats do you wear - When i'm nipping to the shop I put my hubbies fleece on so I can zip it up and keep his feet warm (I don't put the Uggs on then), but if I'm going into town or somewhere else, I want to wear something that kind've fits me!

Thanks for any advice,

Arls & D (10 weeks)

dont know anything about the moby sling but with the mei tais i use my LO's legs and feet where inside the sling at all times.
dont over dress as they will be getting your body heat. i wouldnt put a coat on her, but i would put a hat on. if its only for a short, quick journey then a coat would be fine.

regarding coats i would put the sling on first and then my coat over it and didnt matter if i couldnt close it up cause of the shared body heat. big wooly cardies from primark are good.

you can get things called mamajackets and other variants, which are specially shaped fleeces and macs that go over a sling, if you wanted such a thing. I'm considering it, though as much as I LOVE carrying her, I think when it gets icy I won't be doing it, too worried about falls etc.
http://www.suseskinder.com/ has different ones and big rain ponchos etc

My carrier is similar to a meitai so our bodies are in contact (albeit seperated by clothes) so that generates a bit of heat. At the moment Monty wears his everday clothes with an extra jumper when it's chilly. I also put baby legwarmers on him as his legs do get cold as they're outside the sling (bless him - he has been mistaken for a girl on occasion due to lilac legwarmers... But at least he was toasty). A hat and mittens too. When it gets colder I'll put him in a snow suit.

As for me... The babywearing coats seem v pricey. I bought a lovely maternity coat this time last year and it might be about to find a whole new lease of life!!!

We used our moby today in the hug hold ( facing me and facing out). We spent the day outdoors so We dressed her in tights and combat type comfy trousers, a long sleeved vest, long sleeve cotton top and cardi.she wore a hat and mittens. I had a blanket draped over the top as I put a pair of socks over her tights as her booties kept falling off!! Tiny feet still!
I did shield her from the weather with my scarf at times too as she's just 14 weeks and still can't breathe in the cold wind! Lol
