Hi all,
Hope you dont mind me posting here as im 36 weeks pregnant with my first baby.
I wanted to ask all you mums out there whether you found it easy to loose your pregnancy weight after the birth of your babies?...

Ive put on over 3.5 stone and im getting very depressed about the way I look. I know I only have a few weeks left but what im worried about is not being able to shift the weight afterwards. Has anyone lost that amount after their babys are born?...

My belly has completely turned to jelly now let alone when the baby is born. Im just scared that I will be so depressed, and with the baby blues afterwards too, that I wont have the wheel power to care anymore... I dont want to be like that...

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi I think everyone is different. With my first I lost the weight slowly, with my others the bulk of it shifted fairly quickly but them i seemed to be stuck with an extra stone whilst I was breastfeeding. I tried to diet when i was breastfeeding and both me and baby were so hungry I felt it best to leave it. So here i am with baby no 4 who is 6 weeks old still 1 stone above my pre pregnancy weight, but at the end of the day it took 9 months to put it all on so realistically i dont expect to lose it all in a few weeks.dont feel down about it your body has just done an amazing thing. hayley x

Pregnant lady, I am wondering how much is swelling!! 2 weeks after having josh i weighed 11 1/2 stone, a week later I was 9 stone. Afew weeks later I was 8 1/2stone with 1/2 a stone to lose! Okay most of my weight was swelling because my liver and kidneys failing due to severe pre eclampsia but you would be surprised how much fluid can weigh!

Hi pregnant lady, I feel the same as you too, I can't wait to get back to weight watchers! But I am keen to breast feed and I know that you are not supposed to diet whilst feeding. I'm going to take advantage of having a summer baby and hopefully be out lots walking with the pram, that should help shift a fre pounds and tone up!! Good luck with the birth and everything xx

Hi pregnant lady

I was so worried about weight gain when I was pregnant, I put on 2 stone but am only tiny (5"0) so looked huge. Was really fed up of people telling me how big I was! I bought a pair of jeans in a size bigger to come from hospital home in but couldnt fasten em up on, that was on the Friday and by the Monday I could get in em. I could get in my normal jeans by the time 3 weeks had gone past, i didnt do anything special, but I am breast feeding, which helps, and have dieted from 6 weeks. I am smaller/lighter now than I ever was (baby is 13 weeks) but my fat has redistributed itself! I have a lovely jelly belly!! I am doing weight watchers, which you can do from 6 weeks and is a really good healthy diet. Try not to worry, if your body isnt what you like a few weeks after birth, you can work at! It doesnt take long to lose the weight but your shape may be different for a few months, but I just see that as a baby medal. Please dont stress over it, Jo x

I put on two stone it would have been much more only I suffered bad sickness during my pregnancy. I lost the weight without really trying once my daughter was born thanks to breastfeeding and running around after her. Even though I lost the weight I still have fat days like we all do. Try not to feel down about it we've all been there and once the baby is here there will be to much excitement to worry about your tummy. Good Luck

Hiya preg lady,
i put on 2 stone when i was pregnant and was like you concerned i wouldn't lose the weight but tbh you do that much running around after the first week or so that you literally do not have time to eat anyway!! i know that's not healthy so i'm actually going to be joining weightwatchers to get rid of the weight healthily. My baby girl is 8 weeks old and i have a stone to lose but i'm not that bothered by it at all. I'm so wrapped up in my baby and i make sure that when my oh is feeding baby i do other pamper things like paint toe nails, put on false tan etc and i think that helps me not to think too much about my weight. I think the first 2 days after having the baby are the hardest as you still look pregnant so don't expect to shrink down straightaway. And remember...that tummy of yours has been your babys house for the last 9 months so don't hate it! Good luck. Mel xx

DON'T PANIC! i promise you will lose it without even trying, in the last 8weeks since my baby was born i have lost a stone, just through forgetting to eat and not being able to! as soon as your baby arrives it'll seem so insignificant that ull lose weight without realising!

I gained 3 1/2 stone too, lost 1 stone having baby, 1 stone in 1st week and 1/2 stone over next 8 weeks. I hate being bigger and can't get into most of prepreg clothes but am soooo happy with babe I wouldn't change a thing !!!!!! Have gone back to hockey and am breastfeeding so need fuel and can always diet later !

i also put on 3 stone, my son is now 3 weeks old and i only have half a stone to lose b4 im back to norm xx

I also put on 3.5 stone. i lost 1.5 in first week or so after baby was born and the rest is still kind of sitting there!! My daughter is 6 weeks old but I'm trying not to stress about it too much as I did have an emergency c-section so I haven't been able to exercise and have only been able to walk a decent distance in the last week or so. And as I'm breastfeeding and also don't yet have the inclination, I haven't been dieting so far either - I'm too knackered on an evening not to allow myself some chocolate as a treat!! Because of the warm weather I've had to invest in some larger clothes which I REALLY didn't want to do but I'm nowhere near my old size yet and all my maternity stuff is wintery, and actually, as long as I don't look at the size labels(!), when I'm wearing my new stuff (and the sun is shining!) I feel a lot better about my jelly belly and thunder thighs! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if it doesn't just fall off straight away Pregnant Lady, try not to let it get you down too much as you're not alone - remember your body has been through a lot and we all lose weight at different rates - you'll get there eventaully as I'm sure I will!! xx

Hi just thought I would respond to your post about weight loss. I lost 3 stone with Slimming World to conceive my baby and intend to rejoin 6 weeks after it's born.
There is a lady in my group who has followed it all through her pregnancy and when she went back after having the baby she weighed a stone and an half less than her PRE pregnancy weight! She lost something like 4 stone in a week of giving birth. So it was by eating healthy throughout that helped her. She is my inspiration for knowing it can be done.
Not going to be so easy for me - wish I had her commitment!! - but I know that there is a solution out there for me as soon as I am ready.

Don't worry about it too much - after all you will have been through an amazing experience and have a beautiful baby to show for it!

Hiya everyone - I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't get close to getting my pre-pregnancy wardrobe on!!!! Still in maternity gear as refuse to get normal stuff in a biger size. To be honest, as others have said you do just forget to eat when you have a little baba to look after. Thank God!!
