I want to start giving DD some toast as a finger food. We always buy granary bread, is that suitable? I prefer it, but I could get some wholemeal for her if it's not.

not sure if its right but i heard wholemeal stuff isnt great for young children

They recommend that babies are given white bread, not granary or wholemeal. Depending on how old your LO is, would really depend on whether I'd stick to this advice or not xx

Hi, think I read the same - that white bread is best for young children.

Yep, White is recommended as wholemeal can impede absorption of key nutrients as so much fibre (could be bum talking here but think that's right) and fills them up and so stops them filling up on other nutrient rich foods. In all fairness I think a slice here and there is absolutely fine though...

I give Oliver granary, I just make sure he only has it now and again.
