For the last couple of nights I have found that settling my LO on his stomach in his cot has helped him get off to sleep better. The first night I did this, my OH came home and didnt like it so turned him back over. At this time LO was well asleep so didnt wake up and I did the same yesterday and he settled fine...we then turned him on his back after a while.
I wouldnt leave him all night on his stomach as I know you shouldnt do this but just wondering if anyone else does this and if so how long for? My LO is 11 weeks old.

I always put Kara on her back but in the morning after her feed if she is trying to get comfortable lying beside me I put her on her stomach and she loves it and goes sound asleep. I don't leave her too long when she is lying like that and I am always beside her as well. Although I wouldn't really worry because I have watched her lift her head and move it around until she got comfortable so I wouldn't think of her not breathing when she is lying like that.

my aunty could only get her l/o to sleep on there tummy so she she brought a sensor mat to go under the matress to keep on eye on babies breathing. im not saying i would do it, but it was the only way she got sleep and with other children she needed it.

Summer is just over six months old and i put her on her back to bed but 9 times out of 10 she goes on her side. I usually find her in the morning the oposite way round to the way i put her as she fidgets like mad, sometimes i find her at an angle which makes me laugh.

Well I broke all the rules and let Lily sleep on her front from being about 8 weeks, she just slept so much better. I had a breathing sensor for under the cot mattress just in case, it cost ??70 but was worth it for the peace of mind. She's 9 months old now and she's been sleeping on her back the last few weeks which is great as she keeps still now. When she slept on her tummy she would crawl off to the other end of the cot!

Thanks for all your replies, I put him on his stomach tonight and he hardly stirred. He likes to put his hands under his face as welll which he obviously finds comfortable.
After his 10pm feed my oh turned him back over....we will see, sometimes he settles fine on his back but other times he wakes up about half hour after we settled him and tonight i just wanted to eat my dinner without being interrupted! I have one of those sensor things which is still in its box, will get it out tomorrow and put it under his mattress. x
