Hey ladies..more of a being curious post than a cry for help right now.
whatit is, is my little one has always been a brilliant sleeper...slept thru night from 2weeks and self settled herself to sleep from 3months (put in cot awake, kissed and left..10mins later shed b asleep) LUCKY i know.

now the last few nights she seems to be fighting it...she wont self settle and i have to return to her a good few times...up to 45mins bk and fore tonight before she'd drop off.

I know this doesnt sound like an issue and trust me im stil counting my blessings (specially as my eldest dd...didnt sleep in her own bed til 2 1/2yrs!)...but im just worried shes becoming unsettled and setting up a bad routine!?

how do u all put your little one to sleep??
dont wanna cuddle her and lay her down(well i do really for the cuddle side of it..but not the sleep side)...
but dont knw how to really go about getting her to fall alseep content again like she was a wk back?

reeadin this bk...sounds like im asking to much from a 5month old...but when shes been doing it for 2months its hard to imagine it getting ruined..

p.s started weaning about week and half ago..not sure if this has made a diff.

xx

My second son is 4 months and has slept through twice since birth and now wakes every 1-2 hrs in the night which is killing me!! In fairness he has been really poorly so that has thrownhim from 3 hrly feeds some 2 weeks ago so has your baby been poorly or coming down with something?
Perhaps weaning is causing tummy aches??!!
I in the past have done controlled crying once nappy checked, winded, fed etc as know if pick him up he'll stop after a bit then start on return to cot so we can end up doing tht for hours and so i leave him to cry for 10 mins at a time and go in and settle each time. He is fighting his sleep quite a lot. However as I know he is ill 9bad cold) I have been feeding him back to sleep and sometimes letting hm sleep in our bed and am panicking thatham making a rod for my own back.
Son 1 slept through at 5 months so I am knackered and can't see light at tthe end of the tunnel either!

thanks for your reply justmarried.
yeh think u might be right with the tummy aches...she was quiet difficult to get down last night (my only saving grace is i knopw when shes down shes down for most of the night)... i guess ive been doing controlled crying...didnt realise that what it was tho (thought cc..was leaving them cry themselfs to sleep)...so i leave her to cry and then go in and settle her with out picking her up and thenleave again...worls in about 30mins usually.
n e who..with the tummy ache, she woke at about 5.30 this more grizzling and then let out the BIGGEST (excuse me) farts ever!!! so think shes suffering with a bit of wind again...(didnt think it would rear up again at 5 months? do u think gripe water will still work?)

gunna try her in her own room tonight...there blackout blinds in there (not in my room)...so hoping the dark soothes her a bit more...plus i might not here the little stirs then and disturb us and us being there might not disturb her...hopefully.

| wouldnt worry bout making a rod for your own back justmarried...i'd be doing the same if she was ill....as soon as he's over the cold you can start working on sleep again.

been nice chatting it thru...nice to know theres others there! xx
