Hello mummies!
I'm soooo tired! Theo is a little bugger (I would say monkey but feeling a bit resentful today after about 2 hours sleep last night!).
He's had an ongoing ear infection in both ears for a little while now. Last thurs I took him to the dr again because about a week after completing a course of amoxcillin he still wasnt right, exceptionally unhappy in the day, off food and waking up constantly screaming at night and dr said he still ahd an ear infection so gave him a new antibiotic. a
after the first dose of that one he seemed better and slept that night but the next day he was exactly the same and that night he was waking up screaming every couple of hours SO we finished that course this morning but I noticed a little bit of blood in his ear last night and he didnt sleep at all really. He woke up every 45mins absolutley screaming, really high pitched and he was boiling hot and clammy so I took him back to the dr this morning and he was pretty stumped. He said Theo's ears looked better than they had on thursday but were still very red and looked painful so prescribed him yet another antibiotic which we started today so will just have to wait and see what happens tonight.
I just dont know what to do anymore, i'm 6 months pregnant and just so exhausted! I could cope with him being unhappy in the day if he was just sleeping at night.
He always wakes up once or twice for his dummy in the night before all this but now he wakes up and really, really screams and he sounds like he's scared or in pain but is he just playing me??

what did the doctor say about the little bit of blood in his ear?

I doubt he is just playing you, ear infections can be painful

Not sure what to suggest but really hope he feels better soon - for all your sakes!

Can't believe you are 6mths gone already!!

Neither can I! I'm going in on 29th of June to be induced, how scary is that??!
The dr wasnt very impressed with the blood in his ear, he said he could have scratched it or anything really.
I just dont know what to do, when I go in I try and just give him his dummy and stroke his head but he's screaming so much I pick him up and then he calms down so I put him down but barely an hour later he starts again.

Big hugs hun, he is prob trying to tell you something is hurting when he wakes, poor little man, though it is sooo hard getting up all the time espesh when 6 months pregnant! poor you. We had this when Gabe had severe eczema. He was about 6 months and up every half hour crying his eyes out and needed re-settling. Sometimes I wondered like you if he was just playing me up and being a pain and I was soooo ready to do controlled crying which would have been a mistake looking back. it went on for weeks until doc finally prescribed steroid cream and it gradually improved. Until then I just had Gabe sleeping next to me in my bed as he seemed a bit more settled. In fact whenever he's ill he comes straight in with me as I'm a lazy cow and cant be doing with getting out of bed constantly to re-settle him and replug dummy....Hope the new antibiotics work!!
Also as bad as it sounds keeping em 'topped up' with calpol or nurofen (or both) really works wonders even if they seem OK after 1 dose, giving it every 4 hours keeps the pain relief going...if you can get hold of medised (say its for your daughter - controversial I know) it is a friggin LIFESAVER when Los are very poorly, we used it when Gabe had bad chest infections and it totally knocked him out for the night, and he woke soooo much better and more refreshed

Aw hun, you must be shattered. Poor wee man. Agree with TL that there must be something wrong for him to be crying like that. I posted something similar about Archie last week and I'm certain it was his teeth even though he doens't have any other teething signs. Hope you have a better night tonight.
Blimey it's going so fast. Can't believe we got married, preggers and had babies same time and now you're half way to next one ! Would have loved to done it with you again but if I'm honest I'm glad I'm not, lol. Take care hun, let me know if there's anything I can do. S x

lol I'm excited about this one but really bricking it too, how the hell am I going to cope especially if Theo isnt sleeping through by the time she arrives!!
Tiger lily I gave him some calpol night last night, he slept soundly till 1:20am then woke and moaned for his dummy so replugged and resettled him and he went straight back off until 6:30 which is when he gets up cos of a bloody pigeon in our garden tree right outside his window! He is sooo much better this morning, he really needed a nights sleep plus antibiotics seem to be helping. I also raised his cot so I think that helped. I havent given him calpol yet today but am taking it out with me!
I'm going to give him calpol night for a few more nights so we can all catch up on some sleep!
