Today he's been diagnosed with colic from the GP and given infocol for it.

I presumed it was just wind that he had for the last 2 weeks and just a fussy baby at night - I'm so pleased I know what's wrong now.

I'm EBF and he is 3weeks old

Any tips or advice would be great!! Want to do anything to take his pain / discomfort away its heartbreaking!!

Thanks

Baby Massage is fab! Raising baby I think is good - can you put something under his bedding to 'rise' him up a bit?

Ummm, I'm trying to think of other things!

Hi hun, try putting him in a more upright positon while you're feeding him (lay him on your lap with his head at your knees and raise your legs slightly) and try winding him regularly during the feed (sorry if you do that already, I'm just assuming you don't), also try winding him with his head rested on your shoulder ad I find if ds2 won't bring any wind up doing it normally, he does if I put him over my shoulder.

Sorry I can't really offer much advice, hope your little man doesn't suffer too for too long.

Have a look at your diet as that can make it worse when you're bf.
Some of the things that made my boys' colic worse were; chocolate, grapes, orange juice, fizzy drinks, wine (shouldn't have been having that anyway i guess!), and if I ate too much dairy.
Ds1 outgrew colic by 11 weeks and ds1 by 6 weeks so try not to let it worry you too much, as horrible as it is it won't last and it won't do him any harm.

My little one had a really bad problem with trapped wind, which made her so grumpy at nighttime. We tried loads of different things - not sure if any of them would help, but maybe worth a shot? I know it's not the same as colic but might help with any wind?
She was sat upright for feeds, and winded every ounce.
To wind her, we sat her on our knee, facing us, and twisted her body from side to side. Supernanny said it was really effective, and for us it was.
We also would do 'baby situps', lying her flat, and bringing her back up straight.

I would have tried ANYTHING to help her get more comfy, she use to scream for hours in pain. We also put her on Aptimil comfort formula, which is thicker and more gentler for wee tummies to digest. I know how hard and heartbreaking it is to hear them cry in pain for hours. Sending lots of love xxx

Hi, sorry to hear that you're going through this. It really is awful. My LO is now 12 months (nearly!) but I remember those days well.

There is not much I can recommend really - I tried EVERYTHING but in the end we just had to wait it out. Be warned that it doesn't 'magically' disappear at 12 weeks - for us it was 14 weeks (and then the reflux kicked in, but that's a different story!)

I did find colief helped. It's a bit of a faff to administer when you're breastfeeding but it was worth the hassle. You can get it on prescription or otherwise it's about ??????10 a (tiny) bottle in any pharmacy.

It's horrible I know, but hang in there. It will get better xx
