my hv was out today, asking the usual questions about feeding and sleeping, my wee man has just started sleeping through (hes 7 weeks) i give him a bottle at 6.30 or 7, then he goes to bed and he doesnt look fed again til 5.30 or 6. my dd was the same, both hv told me not to let them go any longer than 8 hrs, had to get up and feed them. Only prob is when i fed them they either didnt want it or were killed with wind and nobody got any sleep, so i just left it if they arent hungry im not going to force them. my hv is lovely but why do they make you feel like your doing something wrong just because my lo sleeps so long, i know im not doing anything wrong as both my children are healthy. thats my wee moan over for the day thanks for listening lol.

I was always told to feed on demand! The only time i have ever been advised to wake baby up to feed was with my first because she was underweight (dunno why just born small) If your little guy is healthy and doing well i would just follow your instincts and feed him when he wants to be fed! Toni x

hi chucky.. :\) bloody HV's!! I was told at the hospital that I should wake daniel up every 4 hours to feed him, I never did listen to them as he was sleeping 6 hours through the night from birth... then when I got home I asked my community MW & she said dont be daft! some mums would rip their left arm off to have a baby that did that!! babies will not starve themselves and will wake up when hungry :\) :\) xxxx

Don't start me on HVs!!!!!!! On my first home visit I kept trying to ask her about my son vomiting etc, and all she kept saying was what a nice shaped head he had cause I had a c section, what's that all about. My son was eventually diagnosed with reflux, and I found this out because one of the other HVs had written it in his little red book and not even mentioned it to me!!!!! I don't bother with them now, I'd rather ask you guys on here if I have any questions, at least I get proper answers!!!!xx

Chucky, as long as your little one continues to gain weight I wouldn't worry, if he was hungry he would wake up. When I had my little girl my midwife told me to feed her at least every four hours, but only when she was really tiny. I think I must be lucky, my midwife and health visitor are both great!

he is 11lb 11oz so he is def not starving, the best advice i got when i was pregnant with my 1st was dont listen to midwives and hv, god were them people right. im just enjoying the sleep while it lasts cause it could change any night.
