Ryan sucked his thumb as soon as he arrived, and at a few weeks old moved on to sucking the middle two fingers on his right hand. It's quite cute, and exactly what his daddy used to do apparently. It's never been a problem as i've never wanted him to have a dummy, and his sucking means he's very good at self soothing. However, the past few days his fingers have been getting a bit sore, and one of them seems to have what look like little calluses on the end.

Has anyone experienced this, or got advise for what i can do? I don't know if it's happening because his gums are hardening up ready for teeth (he's 7.5 months) or what. I don't want to stop him sucking them as it seems mean, but i am a little worried.
