Eating Problems

Hi Ladies

I really need some advice as LO is having some issues with eating.

At nearly 11 months my DS is on 3 meals per day. However, since September I have been experiencing increasing difficulty in getting him to eat a variety of dishes, culminating in the situation where now he wil only eat:
*Porridge at breakfast
*Organix fruit pots
*Dry toast
*Sticks of fruit

I am at my wits end with this, he simply refuses to eat anything else and ends up crying if I try to feed him. I have tried to give him the spoon and put finger food on his high chair tray but NO, still not a morsel passes his lips.

He is teething but will still without fail eat the foods listed above so I don't think that this is the problem.

He is still on 3 7oz bottles a day but I am going to drop this to 2 at the weekend.

Any other advice that you can pass on to a very frustrated mummy?????

Thanks

Kay

Have you tried putting a selection of food out for him to feed himself with at his normal feeding time. Things he can pick up, strip of cheese, bread sticks, cucumber sticks and other bits and pieces. If you leave him to it, he might try a few bits.

How about you start by mixing a little something else with the foods he will eat. Like a tiny bit of purreed fruit with his porridge at breakfast but only a smidgen so he hardly notices and then increase it slightly each day. Or a vegetable into the fruit pots, purreed carrots or sweet potato would probably go well.

I'd definitely drop his milk, as he's probably still feeling quite full from this. My 12 month old has only been having 2 bottles (totalling 12oz a day) since he was about 9 months.

Hope others can offer better advice xx

I would say if you do drop his milk feeds dont give in if he refuses to eat food that you put in front of him. He will eat when he is hungry!
The more stressed you are about it then the likely is that he will feel it too. Relax my lovely and I am sure he will eat a wider range of food soon.
Fingers crossed for you both xx
