Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this. I got my letter in today inviting me to take my 2 year old and my 6 month old. I'm not sure what I am going to do.

I was hoping people could tell me if your kids have had it, side effects etc

Thanks

My lo is going for his jab on Saturday. From what I have heard some kids get minor fluey symptoms which is perfectly normal after being given live vaccine.

Personally I don't know why people are unsure of whether to give their kids the jab or not. IMO better to be safe than sorry. Can let you know how my lo gets on after Saturday

Hi,

I took the 3 girls for theirs just before xmas. The older 2 (4&2) were fine & had no side effects whatsoever & the youngest who was 10 months at the time had some minor flu symptoms about 5 days after the jab but nothing that wasnt easily controlled by a dose of calpol. I'm glad to have mine vaccinated against it

We had ours on Saturday (I'm pregnant and son is 18 months) and he was absolutely fine, he didn't even cry when he had it, just looked a bit annoyed with the nurse (but she did ask if she could have one of the rasins we'd taken to pacify him so it may have been that that annoyed him lol), and the way he was charging around afterwards I don't think he could possibly have felt any worse the wear for it! I developed the sore arm after about 4 hours, which kept me awake for 2 nights, and has only this morning gone really - there's no way lo had it though, he's been far too carefree! The only difference I can think is that my arm was perhaps more tense when the injection went in as I was expecting it, whereas ds wasn't - and that he had a smaller dose.

Thanks ladies, I have always had an open mind and my thinking if the jag is there for a reason so therefore its best to get it.

I think I was just looking for some people's experiance.

Annem - just to let you know my nieces got their swine flu jabs yesterday & they have been a little ill since.

Maybe it's just a coincidence - so I guess different people have different reactions the the jab. Good luck in whatever you decide to do

Me and Max had ours yesterday (I am preg too) and he screamed out of shock from having it but as soon as the chocolate buttons came out of my bag he was fine  I have had a REALLY sore arm since but he seems to have been fine - he had it in his leg and if it was as sore as my arm I KNOW he would have been a grouch but he hasn't been. The nurse said he may get a slight temp int he next couple of days and just to give calpol!

Life's too short to spend time with people you don't care about!

Just to let you all know the girls had their swine flu injection this morning. The doctor gave it too them both in their leg. I was so proud as they didnt cry, my eldest who is 2 said it was itchy while the injection went it. She has been limping a little tonight and she says her leg is sore. So far Lucy has been fine. Fingers crossed they sleep all night

Just to let you know that my youngest (6 months) has been ill with a high temperature since Friday afternoon. He had the jab on Wednesday,he is also teething so it maybe a combination of the two which is what the Dr said,so just be prepared for a poorly baby a couple of days after the jab! x
