hi love. elle was born same day as dj. she is on breast but daddy gives her aptamil once overnight as i too feel "empty". after that she sleeps for like 4 hours.

i use a support pillow and cuddle her up to me to feed then if she is realy tired but still wants milk, then i lay on side with her lying on bed and she feeds that way and falls asleep on bed so its easier to put her back in crib

Hey hun,

We are in the baby forum woohooo!!

I am breastfeeding Amber, she is 12 days old now and has really taken to it!! Your boobs will get better as they toughen up I woul say mine stopped being so sore around 8 or so days. I got some LANSINOH cream for cracked/sore nips and it is a godsend. I got mine from mothercare was ??10 but so worth it. Make sue he attaching properly - should have his bottom lip curled out - if he isn't attached properly he will be causing you pain and wont be getting his milk - which might be why he isn't sleeping very well. I spoke to a bf specialist and she was fab so am passing on her advice!!

Liker GLT I find lying on my side is the best as milk flow better and is nice to get a cuddle too! Also with lots of pillows and holding her around my side head out in front - cant explain very well but its called the rugby ball hold

Hope I have helped a bit hun xx Amy & Amber xx

i think i'm the only brand new mum thats not breastfeeding?! i completely admire u all but i just couldn't even try it, i think it may be slight immaturity on my part but i saw some of the problems on the ward that women were having getting the baby to feed and i think you're all great, well done x

Hey I had the same problem with Jack and my nipples were so sore I almost gave up and my breasts went like rock hard ballons- so painful!

But the cream Amy said is so great my Aunt told me about it and I gave it a go and it's really good stuff- one thing though always were breast pads after using it as it stained my top after I leaked and it went through! Opps!!!

And I use a V pillow and a cushion on top and then if you baby wakes at all after feeding when putting them down to sleep I put the pillow in the moses basket with him and he stays asleep for ages! (well ages for Jack is 2-3hours)

Good luck...

ive decided this afternoon to give it up, hes just too hungry was feeding for 2 hours and just not filling up, my nipples are cracked, bleeding and look awful, my nipples hurt without him being attached, so just given him aptimil as its the closest one to breastmilk apparently

Hi hun, well done for giving bfing a go. It's so hard in the beginning! I was the same with Riley, never felt I had enough and he seemed to be permanently attached all the time! But eventually I started producing what he was trying to get, and he went from 7lb 11 to 13lb 6 in 8 weeks! But I kept feeling as though I wasnt producing enough. I also had the horrible nipples peeing with blood some days and really really painful. I took the paracetamol and diclofenac from c section that I had, and used lansinoh nipple cream religiously! With positions, I tended to just vary between him laying with his tummy against mine (on his side), and the rugby clutch hold (I think! The one where the sit next to you facing your boob upright). There are still some days when it is really hard going, like when he has a growth spurt, but it is getting better everyday.

well done Sando,
Little dj will do fine whether breast or bottle because the important thing is that he has a happy relaxed mummy.
