the only thing i can advise is to persevere with the not rocking. i know it must be very difficult listening to LO scream and it's easier said than done, but there probably isn't an easy answer. sorry this isnt what you were looking for no doubt, but i imagine it'll take a little while, perhaps a few days for your LO to get used to not being rocked, but it's better to break habbits like this while they are still young. i had to break the rocking habbit with a 5-6month old and it was hell! good luck to you though and stay strong! when you learn the signs that lo is getting tired its easier as you can put them down all happy and they will drift off by themselves, when they get overtired they get crabby and need rocking etc my lo is like this at 7 months so as soon as he rubs his eyes or makes his little sleepy noise i put him in his cot or somewhere comfy for a nap and he goes off lovely otherwise im rocking him for like an hour lol

I agree with artyfarty you need to put him down before he gets over tired. So as soon as he starts yawning, rubbing eyes, whinging etc. At his age he will prob spend 2 hours awake but after that, need a nap.

Put him down in his moses basket, give him a dummy, put his mobile on then go out the room...If he cries go back in, talk softly to him, rub his tummy etc, he should calm down...
