Hi all,

Chloe is 7wks old and has always been very wriggly - everyone including doctors etc comment on it! she was like it inside me and continues that way now! lol!

what i want to know from anyone who also has similar how do you deal with nightimes? we have been swaddling chloe up to now on the advice of mw and hv but she is getting a bit to big for the blankets etc. last night she threw up everywhere, all over what we use to swaddle her so ended up putting her in a sleeping bag i bought when pg.

i now know why i haven't dared use it before - she was a nightmare cos she can fling her arms around, she hits herself in the face and wakes herself up and then won't stop crying until i pick her up and hold her for 10 mins and then only is alseep for about 1/2hr!! basically i am shattered cos she just can't settle herself or stay asleep while her arms are out! Have tried a dummy but she can't keep it in her mouth and then gets upset cos she like having it in there but has spat it out and can't get it back!!

Any ideas anyone???!!! Can't think what else i can do, i know i can't swaddle her forever but she has been so ill (recently diagnosed with milk protein intolerance) I haven't been able to face sorting this out but last night showed we have to do something!!

Thanks

lara (a very tired mummy today!!) xx

I have a right wriggler too. He's fine when he's fast asleep for the first few hours of the night, but after that time he spins in circles and goes up and down the cot - and he's in a sleeping bag! We don't have problems with his arms, but I have seen sleeping bags that keep their arms inside the bag, this might work for Chloe. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw them, but it was on the net in the last few days when searching for things to help get a baby to sleep through the night.
Good luck, I know how the tiredness can really get to a mummy after a bad 7 weeks worth of sleep!

Sam is travelling up and down the cot in his sleeping bag too! He is now crawling and managed to perfect this even in his sleeping bag! And then of course when it's nowhere else to go, he'll start crying! Have not managed to find a solution yet! Good luck.xx

lara our babies could be the same person! evie is exactly the same, has always been swaddled to sleep and cant have her arms out or she whacks everything including herself and it wakes her! we're going to wean her off the swaddling soon as she's nearly 6month!! but i dont think it will come easy. i don't (unfortunately) have any advice at all but just wanted to reassure you that there's somebody in the same boat, and its definately nice for me to know too! xx

thanks for all the replies. spoke to the hv about it at baby clinic today as she could see how tired and awful i looked. she said see how tonight goes and if another bad night call them tomorrow. she had no advice then so don't see what will change tomorrow but guess i have to give them a chance!

Linzi that is my fear about carrying it on! got to get this sorted out cos i have to say i would not want to be in your shoes! really glad to know i'm not the only one who's baby is the same!

My lo has always been a wriggler and when first born was really sort of jerky if that makes sense and sort of wired any little movement woke her up, I had quite a stressfull pregnancy and labour and Maddie had colic which we tried Cranial Osteopathy for - didn't cure the colic as it turned out to be lactose intollerance but it really helped with the jerkyness, don't know if it would be worth looking into, we got to the stage where we would try anything.
