Hello,
I am hoping someone can help really. Our little one will not take any water from a cup/beaker/bottle we have tried everything I can think of - even diluted juice to make it taste better.. But just worried with the warmer weather that he is not getting any fluids and will get dehydrated - Our HV has been useless in any advice what-so-ever!! Please help!!

Hello,

I feel like that was me writing this post. My son is exactly the same! He is 9 months old and will not drink a thing!

I discussed it with the HV at his 9 month check and on her advice have started him on some juice rather than just water and I just persevere all day offering him sips all of the time.

He has just started to take really small sips and will now drink approx 50mls throughout the whole day! He does seem to be improving so I think persistence is key but I will be interested to see if anyone else has any tips?

DS1 was like this. He wouldn't drink water or juice & barely had any milk either. We made sure we offered water throughout the day & at mealtimes.
One really hot day when he was about 9 months DH poured some water over his head & as it dripped down his face he licked some & from then he started drinking from his cup.

Thank you ladies it makes me feel so much better knowing that little man is not the only one on water strike - what are we to do with them?

I will keep persevering and offering him it throughout the day - fingers crossed!!

Jelly tots what a great idea ice lollies - I don't know why I hard not thought of that?! I will be doing them tonight ready for the hot weather.

Someone recommended a Doidy Cup - anyone had any experiences with them?

thanks again ladies x

my hv advised me to add a little water to his milk - offering the sae amount of milk, but in more 'sittings'. I get a few oz down one of mine that way. The other drinks anyting i give him - it's so frustrating!

I give Sam Rooibos tea with a little (very little) juice added to it. Its great cos it has anti-oxidants in it too.

hiya!! just thought id say that my daughter was a right monkey nd wouldnt drink anything cold or anything from a cup until she was 11 months!!!
i used to worry all the time but in the end i jsut gave her diluted milk which she drank warm and loads of fruit and veg as they have a lot of water in.
she was never dehydrated although id always worry about her.
she doesnt drink a whole lot now but drinks very diluted juice.
if your Lo will only drink juice jsut go for it because its better than nothing.
good luck xx
