Are 'babymoons' becoming the hottest holiday trend?
Expectant parents follow the likes of Kate Middleton and Coleen Rooney overseas
You’ve probably noticed the growing trend among celebrity mums-to-be taking babymoons. Coleen Rooney has had one, so has the Duchess of Cambridge, so it’s doesn’t come as much of a surprise that babymoons are fast becoming the latest holiday trend.
New research by sunshine.co.uk has revealed that expectant parents are hot on the trail of the celebrity trend, and booking holidays before they start their families.
The online travel agency polled 2,189 couples from around the UK, of those surved 38% said they decided to go on a trip abroad after they discovered they were going to be parents and 42% said they wanted some alone time together before the baby came along.
The parents surveyed also revealed their choice of babymoon destinations, and the top 5 answers were as follows:
- Tenerife
- Sardinia
- Maldives
- Portugal
- Riviera Maya, Mexico
Other celebrities that have enjoyed a bit of babymoon bliss include Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman who was whisked off to the Maldives by husband Marvin Humes, and actress Hilary Duff headed to Hawaii with husband Mike before the birth of their son Luca. Peaches Geldof, who's expecting baby number two, also took a trip with her husband but didn't reveal their exclusive destination - it looked very exotic though!
