BBC newsreader Kate Silverton delivered a baby girl, Clemency Florence Rose, on Saturday evening.
Kate, 41, and husband Michael Heron are said to be thrilled at the arrival of their first baby together, who Kate described as utterly divine.
Clemency Florence Rose was delivered through natural birth, weighing 8lbs 9oz. Clemency has big lips and big feet like her mummy, said Kate in a statement released yesterday by her agent.
The newsreader also spoke of her baby joy over Twitter: Huge thanks to the NHS staff at Queen Charlotte's hospital especially leading midwife Jenny Smith and also Dr Gowri Motha who helped ensure I had a natural (and as gentle!) a birth as possible.
The couple famously had trouble conceiving and were told a natural pregnancy was unlikely after Kate lost an ovary in an operation when she was 29.
Following four unsuccessful rounds of IVF and acupuncture the pair eventually conceived naturally, which Kate described as a miracle when her pregnancy was announced in May 2011.
