French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s father inadvertently confirmed ‘First Lady’ Carla Bruni’s pregnancy in an interview with a German newspaper.
He also revealed his gender prediction for the Italian-born 43-year-old, who already has son Aurélien, nine, from a previous relationship.
‘I’m glad to be having a grandchild’ said 83-year-old Pal, ‘The two do not want to know the sex in advance, but I’m sure it will be a girl and she will be as beautiful as Carla.’
President Sarkozy, who married Bruni in 2008, has three sons from two previous marriages.
Singer-songwriter and former model, Ms Bruni, has so far only hinted at her alleged pregnancy.
‘I would love to talk… about my family life, my personal dreams, about the details of certain things’ she said during an interview with Le Parisien earlier this month, when asked about the reports, ‘but my lips are sealed.’
The couple have yet to confirm or deny the rumours.
