Subject : I'm gonna have a baby

Well obviously thats not technically true, my wife is but still you get the point.

We are very early days yet most calenders put us at 6 weeks this friday, so we are fighting the almost overwhelming urge to tell everyone we meet. I dont know how the person on the checkout would take it but surely everyone needs to know!

The only thing that is keeping us silent is the horror statistic of 1 in 5 miscarriages, is this true? does it vary by age, health, hair colour?!? Although between us we haven't discussed this (seems like it would shit on an otherwise happy time) it is in the back of my mind and surely hers. So when can I start to relax and make our families very happy?

Finding it hard to find resources online for Dads hence I've wound up on a site with the tagline 'for every mum & mum to be'.

Congratulations!!

They say the first 12 weeks is the most likely chance for things to go wrong, but it doesnt happen to everybody so please dont fret about it, just take it easy and help your wife through the morning sickness and tiredness!

My husband told his friend when I was only about 6wks, could have killed him cos his friend let slip to another etc etc. So keep stum until your both ready to announce your good news!

I bought a book all about Pregnancy and every week I read whats happening to my baby and body as a little milestone, I also tell my partner all the different things happening each week to keep him up to date.

Enjoy the next 8 months!

hiya, like fryc says, 12 weeks is the safe point. dont stress about it, or let your wife stress about it as its no good for baby. mum needs to chill out, eat well and relax.

they do say that age and history is a factor, but there are LOADS of older ladies who have perfectly healthy babies, and my friend has 2 beautiful healthy girls after surviving cancer so the human body is a fantastic thing.

if you are genuinly over-worried, speak to your midwife and she can give you the statistics, but generally theyll only make you worry more.

well done and congratulations, enjoy this time, even tho your wife may get stressed and upset for no reason at times, as the hard work begins once your bundle of joy arrives!!

oh, i let it slip by accident at 8 weeks to a friend, but we waited til 12 wks to tell friends and family just in case
