Subject : getting things done
hello im a new stay at home mum to a 6 wk old boy and i find it really hard when he is awake to do stuff round house,of course i spend most time with him anyway, holdng him talking and playing with him but when i do need to eat, make bottles ect he seems to cry after only being put down for few secs or mins. is this normal as he is very young! is this something that happens to get better with age,if so roughly when? i usually wait till he is asleep to shower and get dressed and eat, and so dont sleep when he does.

Hiya hun,
My lo was just the same and I would often not get a chance to clean me teeth until he was asleep in the first few weeks!!! It will get better as he can entertain himself and gets happier being in his bouncer (good way to get a shower!).Also I used a carrier with my little boy when I was tidying, get things ready etc and he liked that as we could chat and he was close.
I'm sorry I can't remember when it got easier but I would think it depends on each baby.
Hth, not sure it does-maybe post over in Baby and your 'My baby was born in...' aswell for extra ideas? x

when I wanted to shower in the early weeks I would sit him in his bouncer just outside the bathroom door - only works if he can see into the shower from there, but worked for me! He loved watching me shower and I could sing to him from there, but he was out of the steam. Now he's 22 weeks and am able to leave him to please himself!
It does get easier; sometimes you just have to be cruel though and let them cry so they get used to amusing themselves.

as mum to 1 said a baby carrier was very handy with my son, i dont remember my daughter being so clingy. and i also did the bouncy chair in the bathroom doorway trick! just for a while forget about hoovering so often and things like that. when hes asleep try and rest. just until he can entertain himself for a while, only hoover half as much, save the washing up til the evening so youre only doing it once a day and just do soemthing small every day. concentrate on you and your baby. it does get easier! im sure theres someone who can do some washing for you every now and then too! take it easy!

i have twins aged 11 months and a 3 year old....
i get up at 6 to get a shower - beating the 3 monkeys by half an hour...
i forget to brush my teeth a lot... duh
i go to the loo - and listen to them all crying in the lounge...
i stick the twins in a play pen - and they scream / shout at me when i dust - but go quiet with wonder and joy at the sight of the vacum! (wierd)
i make their dinner and they all cry in the lounge...
basically every time i leave the room i cause a commotion!
i suppose its nice to be popular!
