Subject : wee boy WANTS a brother!!

my wee boy is 4yrs old and we decided to keep this babies sex a surprise (like we did with my wee boy)!!

boys run in both mine&hubbys families so we kind of had a feeling this baby is gonna be a boy, but about 4-5people have said now "its going to be a girl" fair enough its just people guessing, but my little boy gets really worked up, and has huge tantrums over the fact he doesnt want a sister he wants a brother!! ive tried explaining that mummy cant choose it will just be a nice surprise, is there any other way i can explain to him??

hiya,

My son is 5 and I'm due tomorrow with a girl.

In the beginning of the pg when there was the possibilty that it could be either, he was more interested in it. We found out at the 20 week scan that its a girl. We had a few tantrums, mostly hes worried she'll eat his lego instead of playing with it, and that she'll want to watch different tv programmes from him.

Now hes come round to the idea that she'll need looking after and protecting, so hes quite into that role now! Also we went to see a friend who'd had a girl, and ds was so in love with her and kept asking to hold her and looking at her tiny hands and fingers.

So you never know really!!!

I am totally having this problem with my dd who will be 4 in June, she is desperate for a sister as she already has a brother! I keep telling her the same as you, we can't choose whether its a boy or girl to which she nods in agreement then announces that she thinks its going to be a girl lol! Had a break thru' last week when she said she thought it was a boy but has reverted back to saying its her sister again!
I have decided not to stress myself worrying about whats she's going to be like when lo arrives because i'm sure she'll accept it whatever we have! I'm going to try bribery as a back up and buy a present from the new baby for dd and ds just in case lol!

oh bless you, we are expecting another one, but the first one being not even 2 he is happy with just a BABY at the moment, lol. Reading your posts i am really happy we didn't wait until he really could voice his opinion! Good luck, i am sure he'll be fine. My older godson said to his mum when she was expecting that if it was a girl he'd throw her out of the window - now that's a threat for you! Fortunately they had another boy, but were really scared until he was born, as they didn't want to know the sex, they wanted a surprise.
