Subject : please tell me i am not alone!

Am i the only sep mummy (okay technically hayden is an oct baby but he was late) that has a baby who dosent sleep through???!!! It fels like it sometimes.
last week he was giving me 6hrs feeding then another 4hrs, which i thought was fab but has gone back to waking every2-4 hrs through night since sat!! oh is not here till friday and thats only for a weekend and then away again ;-(. so it is only me who can get up for him.
I tried controled cying last night, lasted 5 mins and i couldn't carry on, he was in such a state that only way to settle him was a bf. have to swaddle him but he is like bloomin Hoodeeny (sp?) and always manages to get his arms out nomatter how tight iwrap him.
Any suggestions would be greatfully accepted, love fiona

Nope you're not alone. Archie was alos late and finally arrived in Oct and has recently started waking more in the night. However I'm not convinced he's waking for food. He's only just 18wks so reluctant to wean him yet so I've moved onto hungry baby milk and am feeding him an extra bottle a day and he seems to be better at night now.
Could you try mixing breast feeding and formula and give him a bottle at night time and it might make him sleep a bit better ? S x

We're still up through the night but i'm so tired now i thought i had my 21month old lying next to me but it was Rochelle so i'm on a mission now with the controlled crying - she's right next to me and i'm giving her her dummy and putting mobile music on, three nights gone and she's going back to sleep quicker now i'm just hoping she'll go back to sleep without crying about it! i don't want to be tired anymore!

Thanks for replys ladies, i have tried toping him up with formula just before bed but he still only goes for about 6 hrs before waking and wanting more.
i had been giving him baby rice in the mornings last week but think it has not agreed with his wee tummy and that may not have helped in his sleep so never gave him any yesterday or today and he seems to be a little better, may hold off for a few more weeks anad see how we go.
The joys of motherhood!!!

love fi and h

Hi, just a quick idea. I know it's hard trying to get as much milk down them as possible but if you ask your HV how many ounces your little one should be having per day try and start doing that, (sorry if you are already). If you aren't already try waking your LO at about 10.30pm and give him a feed then. I feed at 7am, 10.30am, 2.30ish, 5pm (this has replaced the 10.30pm feed), 6.45pm. Emmie doesn't sleep much during the day - she just doesn't want to. She probably has 3 hours max (on a good day!!) Try not to let your LO sleep longer than 3 hours and never after 3pm if you can. Hope this helps! I know i tried anything!!! Good luck! xxx
