Subject : Question about sterlising?

I use Avent bottles and have an Avent microwave sterliser. The sterliser says it keeps bottles sterlised for 6 hours. I have been sterlising my bottles and making up enough for 12 hours, by making up a bottle I mean just adding cooled boiled water and either leaving the bottles in the fridge or on the work surface. My dh has just asked me why the sterliser only keeps the bottles sterlised for 6 hours but yet I am making up bottles that are not going to be used for anything up to 12 hours. I cant answer him! Am I doing it wrong? xxxx

Hi,
A steriliser keeps bottles sterile for 6 hours as long as it is not opened. Once it has been opened, the bottles need to be assembled immediately. Not sure how long they remain sterile for once assembled but 12 hours is definitely OK.

Yep, it's 6 hours when in the steriliser, but once they're taken out and put together (with the lids on) I use them within 24 hours and Gabe's always been fine with this. xxx
