Subject : Lactose intolerant - advice please?
Hi
My 13 week old daughter was on 3 different antibiotics over christmas (at 7 weeks) due to throat infection, leading to a water infection and then it localising in her gland and infecting that. After that she struggled with her milk (C&G), she had diarrhea, severe trapped wind, lots of crying and just didn't want to drink more than a couple of ounces at a time. Eventually after a lot of crying (by me!) to the HV and Docs as noone believed that there was a problem as she wasn't loosing weight, but feeding a baby every hour, day and night, was the only way that i managed that, we finally changed her feed to C&G comfort due to it being easier to digest and reduced lactose. This was loved by my lo and things went back to normal, 3.5 hours between feeds and sleeping through the night without the nappy explosions waking her up. However, over the last week she was starting to cry when pooing again and these were becoming more frequent, and now the nappies had blood spots in it. We saw a consultant a couple of days ago who said that it sounds like she is lactose intolerant, brought on by the antibiotics, so in order for her gut to repair itself we have been prescribed SMA Wysoy. After googleing this i have read about constipation and rotting teeth. So here comes my questions. Has anyone else used wysoy, or had any positive results using other products, ie C&G infasoy, pepti or nutramigen?
Also, does anyone know how long Wysoy made up formula lasts as its taking me 1.5 hours to feed her?
Thanks for reading and hopefully some advice.
Sarah
