Hi Em,

Amelie is on vitamins (dailivit) which is 7 drops every day, from Tuesday (when she will be 6 weeks old), she will also be on Iron medicine twice a day and folic acid once a week, all these were given to us by the hospital when she was discharged and we were told she will be on them until she is fully weaned.

xx

Kara was born at 34+4 16 months ago and weighed 3lb 12oz. She was also on Dailivit. I think she was on them for a couple of months then the GP said he didn't feel she needed them in more as she was putting on weight,

Kenny took Ferrous Ferederate for about 2 months and Abidec for 8 months. His consultant said we could stop them as he was eating 3 meals a day and getting enough vitamins from his food.

After a while he was refusing his vits through the syringe so had to put it in his bottle so make sure he took them.

Hi, my little girl was born 7 weeks and 3 days ago, at 28 weeks. Hopefully she will be home in a few weeks and is coming home on Davalit, Iron, Folic Acid, Sodium and Calcium and will be until she is fully weaned. x

My baby boy was born at 33+6 and was given abidec. The trouble is he is a bugger and just wont take them! When given via syringe he gags and chokes on them.

Hi Dinks, I was told to syringe them into an empty teat for Grace as soon as it was in her mouth and she would suck it down without realising then I would quickly swap the empty teat with a bottle of milk.
Good luck.

Thanks for that but Ollie is a really fussy baby and gags on anything that goes in his mouth except my nipple!

I have his 8wk check tomorrow so will check with Dr if he really needs tham and if so I guess he will just have to put up with it Frown

dd was born at 32+5 and is on dalivit, sytron and folic acid. SCBU said that hse will need them until around 12months when she is fully weaned. i put them into a bottle and add about an oz of milk so that she will take the full dose then give her the rest of her feed.

Well I saw Dr today and he happy for me not to give Ollie the Abidec. He said as I am exclusively breastfeeding, eat well and take vitamins myself he will be covered.
