Subject : Think im in early labour.... UPDATE!!

Evening girls

Ive just phoned hospital as i think i am in labour, been feeling tightenings since last night and theyve been getting stronger and more painful throughout tonight. I was in hospital 2 weeks ago with tightenings, but they werent as sore as these, they thought i was in early labour but sent me home and they eased off after a few days, so ive didnt want to rush phoning them his time.
But the past few days ive been having period type pains in belly and especially at bottom of my back, not really painful but very uncomfy. Also been having diahorrea past 3-4 days too. I was lying on couch earlier and i felt a little trickle down below, went to loo and my pants had a wet patch, but not soaked through, so ive put a pad on and keeping an eye on it. I havent had a show yet though Confused

Hospital said it sounds like the beginning and to write the times down, theyve been between every 8-15 mins tonight and ive to phone back to arrange to go in when they are every 5 mins, does anyone know how long this will take and i take it they will get sorer as they get more regular? Theyre uncomfy but i wouldnt say they were really painful like ive seen on tv LOL!

Im scared im imagining it all and going to waste the hospitals time Confused Im sure im not tho lol

Hospital told me to have a bath, although im just out one so ive had a shower and quickly washed my hair and shaved my legs, im so vain!!

Can anyone relate to how im feeling and is this how it started for you? Im also really hot but shivery, feel squeemish and down below really hurts, i have spd, so there feels like alot of pressure down there at the moment.

Thanks Girls
Sharon x

MORNING GIRLS...

Ok i AM in labour, was in hospital through the night, contractions are 5 mins apart and got more painful and regular by 1am, so we went in and i got hooked to monitor which picked up 5 strong contractions in 15mins, baby's heartbeat perfect and she goes mad with every contraction lol. I then had internal and midwife says she can feel baby's head and that i am 1cm dilated!!!
They asked if i want to stay in or go home and rest, so weve come home for a sleep etc and hoping things move along quickly now. Im just up and they still seem to be 5 mins apart and still strong but not too painful, had paracetamol so think thats helped a bit.

Has anyone else been told they are 1cm dilated and how long did it take until your baby was born?? Midwife this morning says the average is 1cm an hour before fully dilated but that everyone is different and it may be longer than that :\?
Also, is there anything i can do to make this go faster??

You seem very calm which is good. Just go with your istincts if you feel the need to go to hospital then go - even if you do end up back home peace of mind in labour is better than any pain relief in my book. I must have had a show without noticing with my first as i went in with mild contractions that were only coming every 12 mins and had only started 2 hours previously to be told i was 4cm dilated and 6 hour later my daughter was born. It was a gut instinct that this was it so trust what you feel. Best of luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

oh wow! exciting stuff, this is my first too but from everythingu've said it definately sounds like the beginnings of labour!! iit probably wont be like it is on tv, they tend to over dramatise things for effect. not sure how long it'll take for them to become regular as it varies from person to person. one lady might go from 15 mins aarat to 5 mins apart in a couple of hours but someone else might even take a day or two.

ever so exciting, sounds like it wont be long til u get to meet ur little princess.

Good luck! I've never been in labour before myself, but I have read that it's good to keep walking about (if SPD permits) or at least sit upright or leaning forward a bit, maybe do a few gentle stretches or something to try and encourage the baby to move down and speed things along a little. No guarantees though!

How wonderful, you're going to meet your baby soon!
