We're thinking about ttc no.2 soon, and i was wondering how long everyone took to conceive their second baby.

My little one is 11 months and i'm still breastfeeding him. I've also been taking the mini pill for the last few months. I was on the normal pill before he was conceived and i fell pregnant the first month i came off it.

Ideally i'd like 3 months of healthy eating and taking my folic acid before i conceive, but i'm not sure if it'll be harder with me still breastfeeding and was thinking maybe i should come off the pill now to get it out of my system. I've not had a period since my wee boy was conceived, nearly 2 years ago!

Any thoughts welcome!

I took 1 month to conceive our first son (I was 30), and 4 months with this one (I'm now 32).

I'm not really sure about breastfeeding and ovulation I'm afraid - I know some women can get pregnant whilst breastfeeding, but others can't. It depends on how your body responds to the hormones I guess. I'm also not sure if you need to get the pill out of your system.

hi not sure about breastfeeding and ovulation but it took 3 years for me 2 concieve shay who is now 11 months(think i remember you from jan 08 forums) and only around a month to concieve this baby who is due in may xxxx

i started trying when millie was 8 weeks old, and i found out i was pregnant on her first birthday x

hiya, it took 3 mnths to concieve baby no for me, for baby no 1 it was a few missed pills in 1 mnth! my SIL had trouble catching on 2nd time round coz she was bfing, she had to stop bfing but then concieved straight away too. HTH

We concieved our first when we werent trying. Then we concieved this one after ttc for a year. Im 9 weeks pregnant and my daughter is 3 in January.

Was suprised with the first one and it took 7 months tcc no2.

Was a little surprised with our 1st but had only been with oh at the time for 6wks lol our 2nd was conceived 6wks after birth of dd1 !!!!! 3,4 & 5 were planned but not (if u get my drift) so we weren't too bothered when we fell with them.

first was a surprise as i was on the pill,
second only took 2 months
and third was another surprise as i had a coil fitted

no way the 1 time i didnt use anythin wiv my boyfriend i got pregnant, it could just b me lol. but if u dont think about it 'n just ave fun it apparently happens quicker . . . dont no how true it is tho :) x

Hi. It took me 3 months with the first but only 2 months with the 2nd! I was on the pill for 15+ years before conceiving first baby. We weren't actively trying for 2nd but we weren't using any protection so I guess if you haven't got the stress of wanting to conceive it might happen quicker! xxxx

Think it all depends on your body as everyone is different.
My 1st was a surprise after forgetting to take my pill over a drunken w.end.
But when she was born i went straight on the pill and didn't have any AF for a year.
In nov 08 just as LO was tunring 2 we decided to try for #2 so stopped pill but 1st AF didn't arrive till about 56 days its now nearly feb and still waiting on a BFP!!!.

Kinda think its all trial and error but be ready for surprises

my 1st took 2 months...
my second took one month - but turned out to be 2+3 as it was TWINS!
daughter is 3, twins are 7 months old now - and i am 33 and knackered!

my first lo i fell first month and this time im on month 7 and still no bfp lo is now 2y6months x

I fell after 2 months and am hoping it will be as quick with number 2 as it's only benn one month so far!

I fell pregnant with my first baby whilst on the pill so it was a surprise. We did try for the 2nd.

I am 8 weeks pregnant. We started trying in December 2008 and conceived that month.

I honeslty believe it was all down to doing it at the right time. I found when I was due to ovulate and a couple of days before we started having sex every other day for 2 weeks (oh and not moving for half hour afterwards). It worked for us.
