Hi there ladies, I need your advice for feeding my 10 month old.

She eats just about everything ~ pasta bits, yogurt, cereal, fruits and vege ~ but only in the pureed form. Just this week she switched over from her bottle to her sippy cup for milk and juice no problem which was a big surprise to me!

I'm having problems getting her to eat chunkier bits of food. I've been practicing with bits of pasta, bread and putting our dinner in the food processor, but not much success- most of it she spits out. I'm beginning to think she'll go to school with pureed vege and fruit!
I try to encourage her as I feed her by pull the faces and eat a bit of myself etc.

Please help, any suggestions to get her to eat chunkier bits?. I've tried going slow with her but don't seem to get anywhere.

Thanks
Heather

Congrats on moving on to a cup...ah bless.
I never really had lumpy problems with my three as they were and still are absolute pigs!!!
Two of my kids have very large tonsils so that does cause a few problems with swallowing but really its just made them take smaller bites.
Does she eat finger foods i.e bread sticks? If yes then she will probably start eating lumpy dinners when shes good and ready.
I dont really have any tried and tested solutions but I was big on letting my kids investigate food by eating with their hands for at least one meal a day.
Maybe you could let her pick up her dinner with her hands(very very messy I know) so shes actually doing it herself and theres no pressure if she doesnt fancy it. And don't worry she won't starve!! Other than trying different types of lumps to see if it is just one inparticular that shes not fussed on I'd say just let her go at her own pace.
If you are still having problems then maybe you HV can suggest something.
Take care

hi
I have the same problem! My lo is nearly 8 months n i have bin trying to give her lumpy food for the past 2 months on and off but she jus refuses! She heaves or spits out any lumps n then clamps her mouth shut lol.
Have u tried using ur lo's favourite purred food n adding a tiny amount of lumpy food that is similar flavour? works 4 some ppl but have 2 admit my lo knows straite away n refuses.
A lot of my family's lo's had exactly the same problem n sum wouldnt take lumpy food untill they were 1-2 yrs old. If ur really concerned try speaking to ur hv. Take care, nat n lea xx
