What is everyone's experience of midwifes/care so far in this area? Just been watching Dispatches - all about how bad the care is and it's got me a bit worried!

Hi Corinna,

How r u 2day ?

I gotta be honest the care I recieved from my MW during my pregnancy back in 2005 wasnt too bad. I had a very difficult pregnancy and was illt throughout so saw my MW reguarly and recieved a satisfactory level of care. The care I recieved from the first MW I had on the labour ward was terrible. She refused to do an iternal because she said I was far too calm and relaxed to be in established labour.(maybe I should have been more like the woman in the next room to me. She was making so much noise and fuss u would have thought she was giving birth to a hippo not a baby and she had MW's running in and out of her room every couple minutes) When the MW finished her shift she said i had atleast 8-9 hours left before lucy was born but when the new MW (who btw was fantastic) came on she examined me straight away and I was fully dilated and Lucy was born less than an hour later. I was upset with the care i'd recieved especially when I saw my notes after the birth and the first MW had written a load of rubbish in them. She wrote that she checked on me every 20-25 minutes to check the monitor reading (i had to stay on the monitor through the labour bcos Lucy was early and her heartbeat was dipping with each contraction and not recovering as well as it should have been) when in fact i probably saw her no more than twice between 7:30am and when she went off at 2pm. I lost count of the number of time my ex and my mum had to go and try and find a MW to come and check the monitor readings and still nobody came. So overall the care I recieved was disapointing. I really hope it has improved in the last 2 years.

Fingers crossed the sweep has worked. Why dont they just induce her?

Glad Lucy got on ok with her dad. It musnt be very nice for you having to see him all the time tho? Good luck with the court hearing hope it goes the way u want it to.

My nephew is the same age as Lucy and he is exactly the same he never stops chattering away. He gets so cross when you cant understand what he is saying tho.

What you upto today? Im bored. Ruby is sleeping the mo, ive cleaned the house from top to bottom and tv is crap so i got nothing to do.

I know its crazy making her suffer when they could easily start her off. Hopefully it wont be much longer now tho.

It was awful seeing him the first time when I took Lucy to the centre to see him. I'd seen him at court the week before and that was the first time I had seen him since the day the Police took him away and I was shaking with fear. I knew he wouldnt touch me cos he was with his solictor and I was with my mum but I was still frighened of him. Its not so bad now bcos I only drop Lucy off and then pick her up again at the end so im only with him for a couple minutes. I dont mind seeing him there bcos I feel safe and I know he cant hurt me anymore with all them people around which sounds crazy considering half the men in that room are there to see their kids bcos they r violent but the staff are watching very carefully.

Lucy is funny when I cant understand what she is trying to say. She looks at me and says "oh silly mummy" lol

Not upto much really. Lucy is in nursery this afternoon so gotta go and gret her in abit so just having a quiet afternoon at home. Just been sending a few emails and chattin on the MSN parents group I use.

You can come and clean my house if u r that bored LOL!!!

Jo,

Congrats on your new job chic - Where are you going to be working??? Have you handed your notice in at your current job yet?

LOL @ Lucy that is sweet. My newphew says that too. If my sister trys to take his food away when he's playing with it or tries to put him to bed when he's not tired he says "no no no mummy dont be so silly" hehehe

Im glad it doesnt bother u too much seeing lucys dad.

I saw the article in the Herald last week about Lucys nursery and their ofsted report. It wasnt very good was it? Are you keeping Lucy in the nursery or moving her to a new one?

Im gutted I cant make the meet. I was looking froward to it but will deffo do the next one. How people are going to be there?

Hi Vicky,
Love ur pic of Joshua - he is so gorgeous. Who does he look like u or ur partner? Ruby is the image of me. Ruby is doing great thanks. I just dont know where the time has gone. The last 11 weeks have flown by. She is a brillaint sleeper. I put her down at 10:30pm and then she doesnt wake again until about 6:30am. How many oz is Joshua taking at each feed? Ruby is still only taking 4-5 oz and isnt put on much weight Sad She is still in newborn clothes at the mo. xx

Hey Leanne,

My new job is at the hospital doing admin and preparing notes for clinics for the outpatients, a&e and fracture clinic. I cant wait to start. Its going to be fresh start for me. After all the stuff I have been through in the last 3 years its just what I need. Im really excited about the challenge. I havn't handed in my notice at my currewnt job yet. Im waiting to get my start date on my new job before I hand it in.

Yeah the Ofsted report for Lucy's nursery was horrendous. I was sat reading it and couldnt believe some of the things that were in it. Im in two minds about what to do. On one hand I could enroll Lucy in Busy Bees nursery which is in the grounds of the hospital and that would much much more convenient especially as i live near the hospital too but on the other hand Lucy has been at Pixieland since she was 5 months and whilst yes they do have some pretty major faults Lucy is still happy, content, has lots of friends and seems to be developing well. So like I say im in 2 minds. im gonna have to sit down and weigh up the pros and cons and go from there

Lucy was funny earlier. I was getting her ready for bed and put her in her cot while I came downstairs to get her a drink. When I went back up she was laid down so I said can i have a kiss? and she said shhhhhhhhh mummy be quiet im sleeping. She likes me to give her teddy a kiss at bedtime too so I said ok ill just give teddy a kiss then and she jumped up and grabbed my arm and whispered "no mummy, be gentle she's sleeping too" LOL!!

Hi ya...this will shock you...Joshua is on 6oz for his feeds apart from his 6pm feed where we give him 7oz lol he weighs a whopping 14lb 1oz and steadily putting on about 7oz a week!!! He is a little piggy, he'd never last on 5oz i was worried we were giving him too much for his age but cos hes so big he needs it. Joshua is wearing 3-6months baby grows and 0-3months in shorts and t-shirts- hes not fat hes just so long- 62cm! I went into next on sat and bought so much cos it was so cheap. I think Joshua looks like my oh but maybe thats cos hes a boy! How about Ruby, who does she look like. Are you breastfeeding or bottles? x

HI girls,

How is everyone? Thanks for the info about Derriford Jo, its a bit scary when you're new to all this and hear bad things. At least they're not all bad which is a comfort. Congrats on your new job! Are you happy to be leaving your current job?

I'm looking forward to friday, I'm a step mummy to a 5 (nearly 6!) year old and hes coming to stay with us for a week so I get to practice my 'mummy-ing skills', bless him he's so patient with me ;-)

Hi Corrina,
Im great thanks. Hope u r well.
Am i happy to be leaving my current job?? God u r gonna regret asking that this is gonna be a long answer lol!!! I have very mixed emotions about leaving. Ive been there since I was 17 and it was my dream job and for the first 4 years i loved it. I couldnt wait to get into work in the morning and didnt want to leave at the end of the day. But since returing from maternity leave 18months ago its been awful. I was put into a new dept where theline manager and his assistant have gone out of their way to put me down, try to force me out and kept setting me up to make me look incompetant or a liar. It got to a point where i couldnt eat, i couldnt sleep and when I was sleeping I was having nightmares and I couldn't look after Lucy properly. My mum and step dad had to take her on holiday for a week just to give me a break cos I was such a mess. Ive been off sick with stress now since the middle of April and cant face the thought of going back. So in a way im delighted to be leaving there because it was ruining my life at a time when I didnt need the extra stress as I already had alot going on out of work but im also a little sad to be leaving because ive been there so long and I really used to love it. But I think the time is now ight for me to move on forget the past on start my life over agaiin. Told u u'd regret asking lol!!

Aww that will be nice for you and ur hubby having your step son come to stay. What's his name? You got anything nice planned while he is staying with u?

Hiya Jo,

Sorry I just missed you on MSN earlier. R u gonna b on there tomorro night so we can chat then?

Your new job sounds cool. Hope you enjoy it.

Thats not good about Lucys nursery but I suppose if she is happy there is no need to move her unecesarily. And u know her best so im sure u will make the right decsion in the end.

hehehe bless Lucy that is so funny.

Ruby just wouldnt settle earlier. It took my ages to get her off grrrrrrrrr. Touch wood she is settled now and I wont hear from her til morning.

Hey Vicky,
I went into NEXT on saturday too and spent a fortune on clothes for Ruby. I love NEXT I always spend a fortune in there. Ruby is the imagine of me she has her dads nose but other than that she looks like me. Do u plan on going back to work anytime soon or are you going to stay home with Joshua? Im going back to work in January. I really hate the thought of leaving Ruby but I need the money Sad I tried breastfeeding but found it too painful so gave up after a fortnight. How bout u breastfeeding or bottle?

Hey Leanne, i gave up breastfeeding after 3 weeks cos i was crying at every feed it was so pain! dont think my hv was to pleased but i was getting depressed with it- i did try expressing but it took ages by the time i got4/5oz and then fed him it was nearly 2hrs gone. I much prefer bottles cos i can go out whenever i want now. I will go back to work if i can. Cos we moved down from reading im not sure if they'll have a position for me. I worked as the manager for Warehouse the clothes shop so the area manager for the southwest said to give her a call novemebr time to see if they have anything so fingers crossed they will cos i loved my job. Now that Joshua is developing and changing so much it will be hard to leave him x

Hi Corinna...good luck at the weekend with your step son get as much rest as you can now lol! x

Hi Jo, your old job sounds horrible! Good luck in your new one x

Hope you are all well and have had a nice day. I have had the day from hell and im sooooooo glad its nearly over. Lucy has been a nightmare today. Bedtime cant come quick enough..roll on 7pm!

Firstly an update on Ella. She is home from hospital but still no baby. She was 3cm dilated yday afternoon but nothing has happened since so they have discharged her.

Hi Leanne, How were Laura and the twins? Cant wait to see some pics. Not sure how early babies start teething. Lucy started having problems with her teeth from about 4 months but she didnt cut her first tooth until she was nearly 1. Hope she settles better for you tonight x

Alrite hun,

Awwwwww sorry Ruby has been abit whingy today. I think it must be the weather that is makng all these kids whingy. Lucy has been a stroppy mood all day and stressing me out big time. Anyone wanna swap their adorable, trouble free newborn for a whingy, bossy, tantrum throwing toddler?? lol!! Hope u manage to get some sleep tonight.

Thanks for the photos of the twins. how gorgeous are they?? Cant wait to catch up with Laura and have a cuddle with the girls.

Ive decided the ironing wil have to wait another day. Ive just checked out the TV lisitngs and "The big day" and "Katie and Peter-the baby diaries" are on so im gonna watch them instead. Did u see what Jordan and Peter Andre called their daughter?? OMG!!! The Tiiani bit is actually quite nice but Princess, What were they thinking??? That poor kid is going getting teased something chronic when she is older.

Anyway hun hope u have a ncie evening.
Chat tomorrow x

Jo you are a bad influence on me! I was all ready to do my ironing and clean the house until I saw your post reminding me about "Katie and Peter: The baby diaries" I had forgotten it was on but I love that programme so I had to watch it. they are so funny sometimes. I agree with you, Tiiami is really nice, I like it alot but whats with calling her Princess. Its just stupid. But oh well each to their own I guess. I think its nice that the Tiiami bit is a combination of both their mums names dont u? Ruby is named after my nan, is Lucy named after anybody? x

LOL!! Cant believe they didnt show the baby on the show last night. Yeah I think naming after their mums is nice. Yes Lucy is named after somebody well 2 people actually. Her name is Lucy Susan and she is named in memory of my 2 sisters who were stillborn.
Have a good day hun x

Hi everyone... My name is Sara and I live in Callington, though our house in on the market and we are moving back to Plymouth... I gave birth to Saul in April, he's 14 weeks old today and he is a handful... Unfortunatley in Cornwall I didn't get any classes, so didn't meet anyone locally who was also pregnant... How are you all coping with motherhood?
