Subject : Dandelion and burdock drink...........now panicing

Ok so basically yesterday I really fancied some dandelion and burdock fizzy drink and then since then have drunk about 1 1/2 litres of the stuff.

Anyway today I read on a herbal site that pregnant women should not have burdock for various reasons and it could do a lot of harm! I'm now worried that after being so careful I have harmed my little bundle and I'm so close to having him in my arms! Sad

hi please don't worry too much as the amount of burdock actually in those drinks is minimal, and if it was really dangerous then it wld be on the all the lists of do's and don'ts in pregnancy probably right next to pate and raw eggs lol. if u are still worried check it out on the nhs direct site or give ur midwife a call. as crystal said if we listened to every piece of 'advice' out there then we wldn't even leave our homes and defo wldn't be wearing perfume lol.

not long now and u'll have ur little bundle of joy with u, try not to worry and enjoy ur last few weeks of pregnancy

xx

Try not to worry. Not that I'm an authority or anything, but I've done lots of reading on pregnancy dos and don'ts and I had no idea burdock was on the "don't" list - so as Siany says it can't be an out-and-out no-no.

Plus those drinks are so full of cr*p there's probably next to no actual burdock in it, anyway WhateeeEver!

don't worry, it is only harmful if you are in the first ttri-mester and the risks of it actually harming ur baby are so minute anyway!!!

I had no idea about this but i craved it and drank loads of it. Had a healthy baby girl 4 weeks ago at 39+6.

If it did damage the midwife would tell you when they warn you about blue cheese etc

Thanks girls.

I'll try not to worry as like many of you pointed out, there prob not much burdock in there anyway and at this stage it is less likely to do harm anyway.

Now I'm just back to being impatient to have my LO in my arms! :)
