Subject : Mucus Plug?? Is labour a coming?
Just a question wondered if anyone could shed any light on. I am 37 weeks and have been told by my midwife that my babies head is engaged and that it is in a good position to be born. For the last few days have been having tightness over stomach and uncomfortable sharp pain down below which is relieved when I change position. Also - and this is my question - my discharge - which has increased in amount over the last 4 weeks ( all been checked and no infection etc) has become like Jelly ( sorry to be graphic) and yesterday I had a 50 pence piece size plug like amount in my knickers. It wasn't blood streaked just yellow in colour and very Jelly like. Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you think it is a sign that labour is around the corner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi hon, my daughter engaged at 24 weeks and tried to come at 26 weeks without a show then i lost my mucus plug at 32 weeks and had my daughter induced at 37 weeks-losing your plug isnt always a sign of labour and it can grow back very quickly(in a matter of days) sorry.

Thanks girls for your replies - I really appreciate your advice. Its a funny time - waiting for Labour. Nervous and excited at the same time. Don't want it to happen quite yet. Had a Strep B test done yesterday and want the results before I go into Labour. Thinking anytime from next week would be good but understand it may well be mid December.

hey, i wish i could give you the answer you want, that labour is imminent. but i had the same. i had the same from 37 weeks, been getting so many twinges and signs. my midwife was so convinced i would be early, but here i am, 7 days overdue.
fingers crossed it will happen for you soon though.

Kate - thanks for your reply. Its good to know that I could be in it for a longer wait. To be honest with you I was beginning to get nervous about it happening now. I still have so much more to do.
I hope it won't be too much longer for you - I bet you are getting really fed up now. Especially as you had been sure it may come early.
Do you know what you are having? I am sure when he/she comes they will be well worth the wait and I wish you every wonderful thing and positive thoughts for your labour and afterwards.
Helen xx

thanks helen, well i am booked for an induction for monday so at least i have a date regardless now. i am so so fed up. i am getting married in 3weeks also so i was hoping to have baby early. but never mind. chin up and positive thinking. no we don't know the sex. wanted to keep the surprise and suspense. do you know?
its nice to hear someone who isn't desperate to go into labour too early and would like the extra time. it can happen at anytime as you know so be prepared. its so different for all of us. but i am sure you will make the most of the time you have left, before we know it we will be go go go.
take care hun. keep us posted.

Kate
Hope that all goes well on Monday - who knows you will most likely go into labour before then. I think its nice you didn't find out the sex. We are the same, It makes it all the more exciting.
How exciting that you are getting married and what a wonderful guest you will have there in your baby. Speaking as someone who tied the knot in December I wish you as much happiness for the day as I found and a lifetime of wonderful things for you all.
I am glad of the extra time before my baby arrives but sure that when I get to 40 weeks will be ready for it to come and I guess its no fun waiting. You are right - we will have our hands full when they do arrive.
Will look forward to hearing your joyful news and good luck with everything and your wedding planning. Your day will be perfect in every way I am sure of it.
Helen

thanks helen thats really kind. wow i bet the wedding was amazing. i love this time of year what with xmas etc, that why we chose it. so not only will you be celebrating the birth of your baby you also get to celebrate you anniversary. that'll be lovely. you'll have a great xmas.
yeah fingers crossed it happens before mon. not puttin all my hopes on that tho at least that way i cant be disappointed.
hope when you get closer to the date you dont have to wait around too long to meet your little one. especially when you dont know the sex, makes it more desperate for it to happen so you can finally find out.
are you due nov or start of dec?
i will keep you updated with any news. cant wait to hear yours too anf find out what you had.

Hey Kate
Your wedding will be lovely - whats your colour scheme? We had black, white and red and our theme was Paris 1950. It was a blast. I felt like becoming a wedding planner for all of 10 minutes. If you need any pointers - I am your girl. Are you using the You and your wedding site, its great? What is your date.
You will most likely be in labour now I think and if not baby is waiting in the wings to come tomorrow. Good luck with it all.
I am due 30 November. Look forward to hearing all your news and finding out what you have. My instinct for you is a girl. But then have 50/50 chance of being right/wrong.
Helen x

we are having a claret red colour theme. like a nice deep but not too deep red. its amazing. we are actually having a xmas theme. i am such a big kid when its xmas so had to be done. yeah i know what you mean about becoming a wedding planner. my friend is gettin married in may and i'm constantly advising her etc. thats for the offer of pointers. we're all ready to go now. just the last bits of paying people unfortunately. haha. the date is 8th dec. so only a few weeks. i've got my gok wan knickers in preparation as we had planned the wedding before i got pregnant. and i have already got my dress. but hopefully it'll be ok. yeah i have been on the you and your wedding site. it is good as has reminded be of a few things i never thouight about but i really prefer this site. i think everyone on here is so much nicer and friendlier.
i bet your wedding was amazing with the paris theme. so romantic. bet you wish you could do it all again.
well unfortunately i am still not in labour. baby hanging on for dear life in there. but its induction day 2moro so hopefully i'll have some news real soon. keep your eyes peeled in the nov forum. are you on facebook? add me if you like. its kate burley, plymouth network.
oohh so your one of us nov girls. thats wicked. i cant believe how many nov girls had theirs in oct. so jealous.
well i am convinced a little boy, but we have not had a boy in either of our families for at least 22years. its always girls. there is tons. so chances are a girl. if its a boy he will be spoilt rotten coz he'll be the only one. i think i have convinced myself so much its a boy i would be so stunned if its a girl. but i will also be so happy with either.
would you prefer one or the other or not fussed?
have you picked your names for each yet?
oh its all such exciting times.
well if i dont come on here before, then i am sure i will hear from you when i come back on after my induction.
speak soon.
take care
