Yeah, def keep yourself busy, look into going swimming, baby song classes etc. Get talking to the other mums you are in hospital with and suggest keeping in touch, and people from your antenatal classes if you went, people like that are brill, cos they are going through exactly the same as you. It is weird though, cos time flies and you won't really get a chance to be bored.

I'm doing an open uni course while I am at home with Grace so then when I go back to work I can hopefully go back to the career of my dreams.

when my first son was just 5 weeks old i moved over 600 miles away from all my family and friends and with my hubby at work all day i found it hard with in a matter of days, so i joined up to mother and toddler groups i took him to a group every day monday to friday and it was good with in a very short time i had made a load of new friends and it was good because they all knew what i was going through so when i couldnt make it out they never complained as they had the same problems, and they never rolled there eyes when all i talked about was babies as that was all they talked about as well x

Hiya,
The mother and toddler groups I went to were usually around £1.50/£2 which included a coffee/tea, a biscuit and juice and biscuit for little one.
I met a brill friend just going into the village granny tea room!! She was new like me and went just to get out. It turned out she was same age as me too so added bonus.....Thankyou granny tea rooms LOL!!!
It was very daugnting as we had just moved away from family and I didnt know a soul. I am so glad I was brave enough to go as I'm usually a shy person when it comes to going to new places.
Our library also does a toddler/baby sing along. (you dont have to sing you can just pretend!lol!!!)thats £1 once a week.

look for sure start in your area...
they do baby clubs and play groups that are all free.

they are brill too.

after many years of being at work ,and loving it i am suddenly at home all day with twins and a 3 year old....loving it in a different way!
sure start has been my life line.

it has taken me almost a year to get used to this way of life - and get me some friends who are full time mummies too!

good luck, you will soon think you have no time for work!
how did you ever do it!!!!
