Hi just got off phone to my sister who has just had a c-sec with her daughter elle-jay who weighed 7lb, she been crying saying she in agony with pains in her neck and chest and nurses have said its cos of spinal-blcok, does this sound right, she is very worried as am i??

when did your sis have her c/s?

it isnt as such the spinal that causes the pain, but if she has had it very recently (within last few days) it is more likely to be trapped wind. when the abdomen is open for the c/s, air gets in, and travels upwards (like if you put a balloon in water, it rises to the top as air is lighter if that makes sense?!)

if it is a week or so ago, it shouldnt really be that, and she needs to see someone about it.

what did the hospital say?
there are some things they can do to help the pain if related to spinal block. may be wind as well as had some upper back pain.

i had a c-sec 2 years ago and was in agony for weeks after. had wind pain and because i couldnt push (cut was so painful and kind of numb down below area) i couldnt push it out. (sorry tmi). i think she should get someone to try and give her some wind relief as she's prob already feeling sore and knackered without further pain in neck and back! x x

iv had 2 sections and am going 4 my 3rd and im dreading it the consultant wont let me have a normal delivery and i had those pains it was like cramp in my neck and trapped wind in my chest it may b cos they r abit ruff with u in theatre and they completely mess ure insides out u r dieing to fart but cant cos u cant push it out cos of ur stitches and the wind circulates round god its vial im absolutly dreading my section last time i ran down delivery suite to the toilet and locked myself in there for 2 hours haveing preeclampsia i was cacking myself cos i new wat was comeing i hate them il b such a nightmare this time i no it its cos im scared of the pain and the wind xx
