this is a stupid question but how do you tell your heart beat from your babies?
in my first pregnancy my m/w always found mine first she said i had a really good blood supply.

Hiya i'd like 1 of these 2. While u r lookin 4 babys heart beat i think u will b 2 far down 2 hear your own heart beat very loud and babys heart beat is much faster than our own so u should b able 2 tell its babys.

The baby's will sound like galloping horses.
When I first used mine, my MW said it will sound like galloping horses, I put the doppler on my chest so listened to my heart beat and then searched around for my baby's and her's was alot faster than mine and did indeed sound like galloping horses.

Just so you know its very possible to pick up your own in your belly, I always get mine, plus my babies, however the babies are much faster than mine, mines more wooshy, if that makes any sense. x
