Hi
I would recommend getting the fully sprung ones I bought one from Mothercare for about £120.
I bought it for my lo when she was born to go in the cot bed and she will have it until she goes into a proper full size single bed.
We bought her a junior bed and we transfered it from the cot to the bed if I had bought a foam one when she was born I think I would have forked out more money and got her a fully sprung one when she got her bed.
Hope this helps xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Not sure if this helps as to be honest I didn't really know what to do about matresses either - but we went for the mid-range one from Mothercare, ie not foam which was cheapest (think the one we got was about £70, but the website doesn't seem to be showing all the opinions that were available in the shop).

because we bought a cot bed as apposed to just a cot we spent quite a bit on the matress, mainly because she is going to use if for a 3 or 4 years, so we got a spring one instead of a foam, it also has a waterproof side and one side which you can take off and wash - all i knew was i wanted a spring one, so just bought the best one i could afford! x

i'm going for a mid range one. as only a cot and babies dont weigh that much it doesnt have to be top of the range. ourl lo was in his bed by 2 and then we got a decent one.
main thing is it needs to be waterproof which some of the foam ones arent. also breathable fabrics are good other than that you can pay up to £200 for one.

I'm glad somebody has asked this question!
We have been given a fairly new condition mama's and papa's cotbed. Obviously we need a mattress and have been struggling with what to get!
We did debate getting quite a decent one (probably spending well over £150 etc - but in-laws paying), but wondered whether to just go for a cheaper version (possibly foam) till little one is big enough for the cot to go into a bed and by then get a good spring one which will last hopefully as long as the bed does?
Also, there is a difference in measurements by 1cm from m&p sized mattresses to say mothercare. Says in books so long as not more than 4cm difference then okay. Does that sound alright?
Who has best choice of mattresses? Is it mothercare or elsewhere?
