Subject : Bedtime
Hi mummies,
I'm due to give birth in 11 days and was wondering how you all put your newborns to sleep in their cot? Do you use sleeping bags, swaddle them, use a sheet etc? I was planning to swaddle my baby but will I need to use a sheet as well?
Thanks!

hi redkt31
My LO was born end of June so the weather was warmer & only a thin blanket was needed! He's now in vest, sleepsuit & sleeping bag! He hates being swaddled, def doesn't like being enclosed!!
Good luck with the arrival of your LO. We look forward to seeing on this forum!!

Lily hated being swaddled and she was too small for a sleeping bag in the beginning (need to be over 7.5lb), so I used sheets & blankets. From very early on she was always very active and kicking off the covers - it was always difficult to keep her covered up. Sleeping bags are just fantastic - would definately recommend if LO doesn't take to swaddling.
Good luck.

Mine didn't like to be swaddled either.
We use the sleeping bags which are great because my lo loves to kick and can't kick these off.

Hey,
My lo was born mid July so very warm most nights. I was advised in hospital to use a blanket with holes in (http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000JIDUPK/sr=1-1/qid=1223914315/ref=sr_1_1/202-1007791-2126258?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=44397031&mcb=core) so that if she did pull it over her head she would still be able to breath. I had the smallest size and now use them if I want to put a blanket over her when she is in her car seat. Since moving her into her cot she has always been in a sleeping bag - Tesco's do some nice reasonably priced ones.

Hiya, Harry was born in February and to start with he did have a sleeping bag, but i was a bit of a lazy mummy!
He was absolutely fine with a vest, sleepsuit or babygro (longsleeved), and copious amounts of blankies.
He swaddled well for a bit but liked being able to move around - he wasn't a jumpy baby so he rarely woke himself up from startling - so it only lasted a week or so. I think with the swaddling you will need a blanket or two over the top as it would only count as one or two layers? I think you'd have to check that out. I piled Harry up! Poor baby must've been roasted most nights ! It was cold though.
Google it! Good ol' google. X
