Subject : Really bad few days - terrified about tomorrow.
HI gilrs,
It's all been a bit of a rollercoaster since friday. I went to see gp on thurs, thinking i was about 5+5 which she confirmed. I'd had some brown spotting around when my period was due so just to be safe she referred me to the Early Pregnancy Unit for a scan to check everyting was ok. Went thursday morning and they could see enough. they sad they could see a dot which measured for weeks and they took my bloods which apparently were ok. The midwife told me to have a really easy weekend and come back tuesday when she'd take more bloods and do another scan. She said hopefulyy my horone levels will have risen and she'll be able to see the sac.
Anyway had a really bad tummy over the weekend - some sort of tummy bug I think - and all my muscles were strained and really acheing, then I started brown spotting again yesterday. I'm really hoping it's because I had so many bowel movements on saturday and all the straining but I'm terrified that I'm losing it.
I'm so so scared about tomorrow its going to be such a long day and so hard.
Has this happened to anyone else and it's been ok? She said the scan could be small becuase my dates are out or i just had a long cycles but i'm really worried.
So far today (touch wood) the spotting has gone but I'm literally checking my pants every 10 mins it's so hard!!

Hi Rach - I'm sorry I can't offer any advice for you but it must be such a worrying time for you.
Easy to say i know but try not to worry too much as that won't help your bean either.
Will be thinking of you tomorrow - let us know how you get on.

Oh Rach, I know exactly how you feel as I had this with my first pregnancy. I was about 8 weeks and had brown spotting as you describe, my GP was useless and said to wait and see what happened! My midwife was much better though and she could see how stressed I was and managed to get me a scan when I was about 9 weeks and everything was fine. I had more at 10 weeks but I was much calmer and so didn't have another scan. My lo is 9 months old now!
They say brown blood is old blood so probably not coming from the baby. My midwife said although they don't like to say early bleeding is normal it is very very common so it doesn't automatically mean the worst is happening.
You may have ovulated later than you think which would explain why you maybe aren't as far along, and at 4/5 weeks there isn't a huge amount to see yet.
Try and relax and keep positive as much as you can, I know it is so worrying as you don't know what an earth is going on. I will keep everything crossed for you that you get good news back from your next set of blood tests. xx

Thanks girls,
It's so reassuring to hear that it's been ok when it happened to someone else. Tomorrow can't come quick enough. I could have gone today, but I know the longer I leave it the more they can tell me. Plus I bet the EPU is extremely busy on Mondays! I'm driving myself mad though imagining and evaluating every single twinge and feeling i have.
I'm just hoping so much. It took us 14 months to conceive and i can't imagine starting all over again.
Rach x

Rach...PMA PMA PMA ... stay positive lady!
Like Liz says it could be nothing once you get checked out again so you have to think that way.
A girl I work with bled from 7 weeks to 27 weeks until they found out what was wrong and her LO is just fine! (basically her uterus was rubbing on a blood vessell so every time it grew or moved it caused the bleeding)
But to be honest it sounds, like Liz says, more likely to be old blood if its brown.
I know how you feel about Long term TTC though - it is scary - Im a previous LTTC-er too
I'm off work today so will be on here most of say I expect if you need to chat
Thinking of you

Can't really add anything to what the others have said Rach. Try to stay as relaxed as possible and as bon says, keep up the pma.
Good luck for tomorrow (not that you need it).

hey Rach, chin up.
I know my doc has got me nearly 10 days ahead of what I actually am as I know exactly when I ovulated and it certainly wasn't two weeks into my cycle. So the dating is probably all wrong.
I had bleeding like AF when I was due, although very lite. Fingers crossed I think everything is going okay. Had a couple of days with slight brown tinge to my CM.
I'm trying not too worry myself, but I know how hard it can be. Especially when 12 weeks seems so far away!
I think I'm 5+3 so got weeks to go yet and I've already m/c earlier this year so just trying to keep my mind off it.

Hi girls,
Thank you.
I'm just so worried - I think either the dates being wrong or the brown blood would be fine alone - but both together.... It's so hard waiting for tomorrow, knowing it might happen is almost as bad as it happening i think. I just hope so much that it is ok.... I want to know everything is fine and enjoy it and look forward to everything - right now I feel as though I'm in a total limbo - and I thought ttc for 14 months was hard - that was nothing.
ARGHH - I'm driving myself crazy!!

Try and go out or do something to distract yourself from thinking about it if you can. I know it feels like the longest wait ever but you have to try and stay calm and positive that things still could be fine.
I wouldn't worry too much about your dates either as mine were changed pretty much every time I had a scan with my first pregnancy. Just remember how short a time frame 5 weeks is for a little person to be made so it isn't surprising they didn't see much. Plus the heart doesn't start beating until 6/7 weeks so you wouldn't see much more than a sack anyway before that.
Did you have an internal scan? They couldn't see much at all when I had one at 9 weeks with my first doing an external scan but an internal scan showed our little bean.
lots of sticky baby dust coming your way xxxx

Thanks girls,
LizB - yep it was an internal and she still struggled to find anything, just a dot that measured four weeks and she said she's hoping to see a sack tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm at work so can't do anything, except work, which doesn't really distract me!
