Subject : Advice on a cold please

Hi everyone,
my 13 day old baby has a bit of a snuffile nose, when i mentioned this to the midwife (because my hubbie has a cold) she just laughed at me and said that there is no way the baby can have a cold he is to young and still has my hormones in him. This was on friday and he still has a snuffile nose, it seems to be worse at night time, he is still a happy baby and it only seems to bother him at night.
Is the midwife right am i worrying over nothing?

Hiya!

My lo got his first cold at 7 days!! I took him to the doctors as his breathing was really difficult, they prescribed me some saline drops to put up his nose before each feed, it really helped to clear it although he STILL has a snuffly nose (not helped by the fact I have a cold now) and he is 4 weeks old! Also the doc suggested that I propped the mattress in his moses basket up slightly using a blanket underneath the mattress, this helped his sleeping.

Hope his snuffles go quicker than my lo's has!!! xx

hey,

my lo has been sneezing since birth! I dont think she has a colds but I think she has the same allergies as we both seem to have blocked noses at the same time!

I have the end of the cot raised (bed blocks from argos) and use saline drops called Nasosol.

It's horrid hearing your lo trying to breath through a blocked nose, the midwife was very rude to laugh at you.

Thank you girls, I think I may try raising the mattress tonight and see if that helps, he is sitting in his bouncer chair at the moment fast asleep and his nose is not snuffly anymore so I def think it has something to do with lying flat
