just been looking through my baby file as i didnt read notes from midwife on friday as been busy and under one of the columes its got 3/5 not sure if this is good or baD i no its all to do with the babys head engageing

from what i remember/think its all to do with the baby being engaged so i take it that your 3/5 engaged which is a good thing.
i may be wrong so dont laugh if i am

I seem to remember there is a difference between 3/5 engaged and 3/5 palpable

My notes had 3/5 palpable and that meant the midwife could feel 3/5 of the babies head above the pelvic bone so baby hadn't properly engaged yet. Being my second they kept telling me he would bounce around until the onset of labour, fun fun fun!

yeah it means your babies head is 3/5 engaged. it starts at 5/5 and goes down as opposed to up. i had this on my last app. i said to midwife oh so it'll hopefully be 2/5 at my next app. but she said baby's head would only be that low when i am in labour. i hoped this meant i would go into labour soon but she said babies can stay like that for weeks and doesnt necessarily mean baby will come earlier.

I'm a bit curious as to why your midwife didn't tell you this at the time? Mine always talked to me about what they could feel and hear, and I saw a different one every time lol perhaps i just got the chatty ones!

my midwife dont really chat to me she just says babys healthy and then thats it. i always have to read record after and normally have to phone her one what some things mean shes noyt a very helpful midwife in my eyes but feel its to late to change midwife now

i think i've been lucky as there are a lot of student midwives in our area at the moment so they midwife was very chatty about everything so students and I would understand.
