Subject : Help - which is best?

Hiya

Violet is almost 11 months and I have a little boy due on boxing day (but he will be early). So am wondering what to do.

Having 2 babies in nappies was never, ever a plan of mine - I work from home and having Violet is quite difficult, but having another one I need certifying! Anyway I am looking at reducing outgoings and it seems to make sense to try reusables.

I can get a cash back payment from my council for £30 per child as long as I produce a receipt of £50 or over per child. I also have to claim before Violet is 12 months old, so need to get my **** in gear.

So I suppose I am looking for nappies that are good for either sex and would like to get Violet started sooner rather than later and then probably will put the baby in disposables for probably the first 8 weeks or so.

I need easy systems as my 2 older children like to help change nappies and when I am working I need them to help me out. Also they need to be husband proof!

So any ideas or tips on what to try would be really helpful! I was going to consider the mothercare smart nappy as it seemed really easy, but reading another thread have changed my mind!

Thank you for your help.

Carolyn.

Hi, I always recommend Fuzzi Bunz but they are one of the dearer nappies but they are really easy to use & wash...if not then any other type of pocket nappy would be your best choice...I have treated myself to some Fuzzi Bunz for bb no.2 & will get some money back off my council (well I best had, did for no.1!).
My eldest will be 17 months when no.2 is born & he is currently in terry squares & preshaped - both needing wraps...but I don't let my DH anywhere near the nappy wash as he isn't very good at putting them out to dry either let alone setting the washing machine properly etc! lol!

I have a friend in a similar situation who recommended Motherease one size so she has brought one set of nappies for both her kids. Tots Bots cotton poppered nappies might also work as they can be folded to fit a baby from 10 pounds and go to potty.

do you know anyone near you that uses nappies that can lend you some to see how you get on? some localities have groups that have advisors that can give you advice and maybe even give you a trial.
