Subject : Off-topic. What did you want to be when you grew up?

When you were at school, what did you want to be? Do you think you'll become what you wanted? Are you lucky enough to do what you wanted?

I wanted to be a lawyer so badly and took all the right courses for it but I flunked my A levels and never made it. It would cost too much now to re-train, plus its not the easiest career to juggle around a family.
I never thought I'd be content to be a full-time mummy but I am. Truthfully, I love it.

I always wanted to be a teacher but due to circumstances and being a bit stupid at 17 didn't go to college and always regretted it and now it's just too darn expensive. I am about to start training as a counsellor though and I am really looking forward to being able to make a difference.

I wanted to be a pharmacist because I read 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl and I wanted to mix potions too! LOL!

My job involves some pharmacy now, so I'm not too far off!

when i was very young i wanted to be either a fireman (firewoman!) or a blacksmith (god only knows why, i dont like horses)

Through school id wated to teach, even went to uni..... but then dropped out after 5months as i hated it, and got pregnant!

now, id love to run my own bed and breakfast, or learn how to make/decorate cakes for occasions and run my own business! I'm only 20 and like to think i've got plenty of time to acheive it Happy

I wanted to be a teacher from the age of four - even had a blackboard in my bedroom and used to do registers and reports for my dolls! What a loser WhateeeEver! I am actually a teacher now and it's definitely the job for me (even with the mean parents who make me cry Sad ). I love it.

I also always wanted to be a stay at home mummy so really hope this dream will come true too. Smile

Astronaut! LOL! Even tried to persuade my dad to move us all to the States as that was where all the space action was and I was convinced I would achieve my dream if we lived there. WhateeeEver!

Even now, if NASA called, I would jump at the chance! LOL!

I wanted to be either a marine biologist or a scientist.

I did become a scientist - but had to give it up because there's hardly any jobs (with good pay and job security) and the only one I could get was an 80 mile round trip daily, which I did for 3 years and it nearly ruined me with the stress of the job on top!!

In an ideal world I'd still like to do one or the other!!

xx

I so wanted to be an actress and was convinced I would be until I hit my teens and decided to leg it whenever a camera was pointed anywhere near my direction! Unfortunately that didn't change much as I still am a tad camera shy LOL!
Not one of my better ideas!!!

I wanted to be a Show Jumper - they always looked fab on the telly when I was young, and in the winter I wanted to be an Ice Skater, again the outfits looked great on the telly.

Funnily enough I am not either!

I now work for myself helping businesses implement accounting and business systems (well I was always a computer nerd at school).

WhateeeEver! WhateeeEver! WhateeeEver!

I wanted to be a pilot in the raf - even took all my gsce's for it and was going to go to the college but had a nasty car accident - then decided that nuclear physics would be good - took my a-levels and then discovered being a teenager. Became a police officer instead, now in a career break and own a day nursery - but am saving my pennies for flying lessons x
