Subject : Violent 5 year old.

Hi everyone,

If ayone can give me some advice, it would be a great help.

My son is 5 on Saturday, and I'm 18+5 pg with number 2.

Basically life with Thomas has never been easy. He's always been demanding, and has only just started sleeping all night through. We weren't planning on having another one, but accidents happen!! Thomas was over the moon when we told him as he's been asking for a baby since last Christmas.

For the last 2 months he has been horrifically violent towards me, and sometimes to his dad as well. if i'm in bed, he'll try and bite me on the face to make me get up. He stands on the sofa so he is at my level and punches me as I walk past. Any kind of violence you can think of, he does it to me. He can be lovely, and there seems to be no trigger - yesterday it was after tea he just came up to me and started punching me, It's nothing to do with attention - I don't work so he gets plently of that, and his sleep has never been so good, so I have no idea what's causing it. We try and talk to him about it, but he says he doesn't know whay he does it.

I'm starting to get scared as yesterday he punched me in the belly, and I got so upset I hit him back. I know this is not the answer, but what can I do?? We've tried the naughty step, he's had his favourite toys taken away, no TV for the day, and no sweets/choc/biscuits.

But nothing seems to work and I don't know what to do. I'm so scared he'll hurt the baby, and this morning my hubby admitted he's started to dread number 2 coming, as we can't do anything to stop Thomas's awful behaviour, so what will the second one be like?????

Any help or advice would be so appreciated!!!!!

marnie

have you spoke to your doctor hun, it could be he has something wrong, he sounds very similiar to a little boy i know with adhd, if that is the case they will be able to help you!!
i think it's something you need to get sorted before baby comes along and you want to be able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy aswell instead of worrying :-( and don't worry about no.2 i'll bet he/she will be as good as gold, you never get 2 the same :-) xxx
