Subject : My blood pressure is rising : ( UPDATE

Hey ladies!

Sorry I haven't been on much lately.

The carpet has at long last been fitted in our nursery, yay, but this meant I had to lose my internet connex for a couple of days, how rubbish! Up and running again now!

I had my 31wk mw appt today, and to be honest I was looking forward to asking some questions, but dreading the tests.

My usual BP is 110/70, @28wk appt it was 120/74, and it has now gone up a bit more to 130/80. Unfortunately it seems to be gradually rising and they are going to monitor me each week for the next few weeks to keep an eye on it. Getting a bit worried about it particularly as my hands and feet are swelling a bit too. The mw looked at my feet and seemed a bit concerned too : ((( My sample was clear of protein so at least that is a good sign though,

Quite scared as to what this may mean for me and bubba really, esp if BP keeps rising...she needs to stay in there for at least another 5/6 wks.

I'm quite stressed about work which probably doesn't help, so much to do and so little time, etc, etc. I will have a word with my manager in the morning, so hopefully I can ease off some of my tasks and just concentrate on what I really must finish before I go on leave in 5 wks time. If I don't slow down then I suppose there's a chance I will be signed off and have to start mat leave early, but mine and bubba's health are more important than a blasted job eh?! WhateeeEver!

Trying to chill out and put my feet up for the rest of the day...soz to unload, but hubby is not home until 9pm and he's left his mobile at home, so I can't scare him yet with this! He may have to finish renovating our house more quickly than he thought!!!

Iz x

8/10/08 - Went to see the doctor today to get my blood pressure checked again as I am routinely being monitored every week as opposed to every 2/3 wks now.

Again BP was up a bit from last week, now 140/80 & my specimen also showed a trace of protein Frown

So I'm off to the maternity ward for blood tests, more specimens and BP checks tomorrow lunchtime, and they will monitor the baby for a while to see how she is. A little bit scared but trying not to worry too much yet. Will just have to see how I get on tomorrow I suppose...not in work until after I've been to the hospital, so at least that's one less thing to worry about!

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hope your BP is under control Filo, I think spending time in the hospital is enough to push mine up!

A slightly subdued Iz x

You poor thing, at least they are monitoring you closely and I'm sure they'll do all they can to help you go the distance. Keep positive and don't worry about work, as you said it's not as important as your health!

mine is starting to do the same too, but i put it down to the fact as i'm consultant led and wait in the clinic so long it makes my blood boil!!
average wait with scan etc is 3 and a half hours!!
i swell really easily and cant tell if protein is down to the recurrent uti's or not.
my last reading was 140/85 which is really high as i'm so low normally and in last pregnancy was always low usually 90/50.
Am only 30 weeks friday as well.
Fingers crossed that we manage to keep well and that babas will be fine til due dates or just before.
take care hun

filo, thinking of you too. I guess it is natural your bp is high as you have been experiencing such a lot of stress during your pg. I hope everything is going ok with your family xxx

I've the opposite in that my BP gets lower each time and I don't know how as I'm feeling more stressed than ever. I don't usually let work get to me even though it is a stressful role but like yourself have been feeling the pressure lately so dh has pursuaded me to finish work a week earlier than planned.
Even though work aren't too amused, there's not a lot they can do about it because you're right, have to put ourselves and the baby before work.
You do what you feel is right for you and will probably find the more relaxed you feel the more chance of BP coming down and if not, then will be more able to cope with the coming weeks if not tired and stressed :)
Easier said than done sometimes though eh?

Hi Iz
i saw consultnat and they took my bp twice, 1st time was a whopping 160/86, then with a bigger cuff was 140/80.
i had nothing except glucose in my wee but have been getting quite a bit of ankle swelling. they didnt seem too concerned but have to get it rechecked next week with community mw.
never had any problem with high bp last time in fact was very low. dammit!
