Subject : Who moved or are thinking of changing to follow on milk
I was talking to my hv who is fantasic and asked about follow on milk. She said put my lo on it when 6months as she doesn't like milk and its better for them as a study was done at birmingham uni about irpon levels and tells every one to. She also said it has offers on gets points an d works out cheaper.
Have you or are you changing to follow on milk? if so which brand?

I'm not sure on this one. I use cow and gate so will stick with that if I do. Follow on milks are sometimes 2 for £12 in boots which works out as £2 cheaper. The only thing I've heard against them is that the extra iron can cause constipation??

Hiya its up to you really i never bothered with follow on with my first but did with my 2nd, the follow on does have added iron but by that age little one should be eating a balanced diet and getting iron that way so it is not essential, however you can get deals on follow on and points etc whereas you can't on stage 1/2. So its down to personal preference really, iv always used cow and gate and have no problems x

hhmmm yeah im not sure either about whether it best or not. i changed my lo's milk to sma progress last week and so far she has been really bunged up. i called the HV and she said it could be due to the extra iron she is now getting.....apparently the follow on milks are harder to digest.
luckily ive managed to get her to have a small bit of orange juice today so i got my wish and had a big dirty nappy this afternoon. im thinking i may return to sma gold. going to see how she is over the next couple of days and make a decision from there.

We are in the process of switching Cole over to aptamil follow on. I spoke to the very nice people at aptamil who suggested switching over slowly so we started with his nighttime bottle, and then I started making his breakfast cereal with it, next I'll make his afternoon bottle with it too as he seems to be ok on it. He hasn't seemed to be bunged up at all with it.
The helpline person did say that the stage 1 milk is suitable for up to 1 year but I'd rather put him on something more suitable for his age, and also I'd rather get points and offers on the milk! Now all I have to do is remember that I need to buy milk from boots when i'm in town rather than when I go to asda!
