I've been using bambino mio, had a few leaks at first but now I'm liking them much more. (started using them when lo was about 2 weeks and she's 6 weeks now, so it's still kind of early days!). They're very easy to use once you get the hang of folding them and great for wees, but i find the covers can sometimes get dirty with loose poos! So it's a good idea to have a few covers, I started with just 2 and that definitely wasn't enough. Also I have found that they do need to be changed quite often, and I haven't yet tried to use them overnight, only in the daytime.

I also tried out the mothercare ones, i just got the newborn trial pack. I thought it was a good idea having the different inserts, but I found that the cover wasnt really big enough even though my lo was well within the recommended weight limits. It didn't seem to go high enough up her back so that it was leaking over the top of the nappy. Didn't try any other sizes though, just went with bambino mio instead.

HTH!

I have been using Bambino Mio on my LO since he was about 4 days old. He's now 9 weeks. We get on really well with them. I agree with Poz that you need extra covers - I am breastfeeding so my LO has loose poos - we find that the poo tends to get onto the inside of the nappy cover so you need to change the nappy cover too but the poo rarely leaks beyond the nappy cover - only when its a super explosive one! My LO has very skinny legs though so we reckon the fit will get better as he gets chubbier. We use them overnight too and this last week my LO has been sleeping through all night from about 9 -10pm through to about 5-6am and so far the nappies are coping very well. He is obviously happy else he would wake up and they are wet but not soggy in the morning. We use a tiny bit of bepanthen on his bum as a preventative measure against any nappy rash. So far he has been fine. We dry pale them and do a 60 degree wash every other day. We don't have a tumble drier so we line dry either outside or on the sheila maid indoors. LO seems happy enough in them too - they look comfy and fit well (apart from his skinny legs). They don't rub him or iritate him anywhere and they are quite slim - especially at the sides - so we don't have any probs getting clothes over them.

I haven't used either of those nappies, but when i was looking into nappies I had a good look at both. I thought the mothercare nappys sounded like a great idea but when I opened up the pack I didn't like the feel of the wrap and didn't like the fact that so much of the plastic-y feeling wrap would be touching lo's skin. The bambino mio's seemed a bit less icky but i still didn't like the idea of too much plastic-y bits on lo's skin.

What I ended up doing was buying a whole bunch of different nappies off ebay - just looking for bargains so I had plenty to try out in size 1's. For size 2's I've settled on little lamb bamboo or microfluffles, although if I find any tots bots bamboo bargains on ebay then I'd use them too.

I'm not so keen on the birth to potty nappies (sold mine on ebay without even using them!) as they seemed so big on small babies - yes I know they are adjustable but they were just so bulky!

Personally I'd reccomend contacting your local council to see if they provide a grant towards reusables (i got £45 off mine) and seeing if they provide a list of local nappy suppliers/councillers (the ones on my list all seemed to be work at home mums) who can talk you through the various types of nappies and give demonstrations, and probably information on how to hire trial packs if that suits you. If it wasn't for the nappy lady I talked to I wouldn't have known that bamboo nappies are good and absorbant for heavy wetters. I think its definately worth trying a few different types then you'll know what suits you and your lo - so many people have their own favourite that works for them and reusables can be baffling to get into!
