Subject : which ones shall i buy?

ok ive taken the advice to buy a load of different nappies to try out. i already have a mothercare smart nappy, and heres a list of the others ive found. i could quite easily buy them all but really cant afford it! which would you reccommend? id rather go for slimmer ones so none that will be too bulky. im also more keen on the idea of pocket ones at the moment rather than 2 parters but this is only because the 2 parters seem to end up being more bulky. and im thinking it might be better to get a brand with different sizes for the same reason- one sizes can be huge on newborns!
nappies:
little lambs microfibre nappy (with wrap)
bambino mio
bumgenius
wonderoos
fuzzi bunz
swaddlebees pocket nappies
nature babies stuffables
diddy diaper
tots bots (with wrap)

Wraps:
motherease
nature babies
tots bots
swaddlebees

as you can probably tell im totally lost in all this and getting very overwhelmed, so any help and advice would be much appreciated!

Hi Fiona -
its really tricky isn't it - i use one life which were ok from newborn and up - they fold a different way for newborn and then as they get bigger theres an attatchment that can go in for extra absorbancy. That does make them quite bulky but doesn't seem to have stopped either of my little ones roaming around. they have a seperate wrap. i like the idea of all in ones but not sure how the durability of constant washing bears up or how easy they are to dry
The other thing about using nappies from birth is that i found i just couldn't deal with washing nappies at 1st. i was quite ill after both my births and also took a while to adjust to having a new baby (even with my second one!) i used disposables until i felt ready.
My second baby is 9 months so they've had a lot of good use. i was recommended them but my main reason for choosing them was they were half price in a local shop closing down.
My recomendation is if you have a friend who has recomended some then maybe borrow to see how you (and your lo) likes them. my friend invested a lot of money in nappies and then found they weren't up to the job. they were a well known brand. she was lucky tho and got her money back.
also i think sometimes you can get samples to try out and some places have special projects that give information and advice. I know in cornwall they have real nappy project. they promote real nappies and have trial packs so if you want to try before you buy you can select one of the packs as they have different types you can try. not sure whether there is this available in your area tho!

Try www.babykind.co.uk they have nappy advisors who can come out to your house go through the different options. We used one when we were deciding and she was really helpful.

The best piece of advice she gave us was to not buy one complete set as you don't know whats going to work best for your baby e.g. pampers v huggies v tesco own brand disposable's in the pregnancy forum. We have 1 or 2 each of the nappies you have listed and I don't think it's worked out anymore expensive than buying a birth to potty set. We also have most of the wraps, stayed away from tots bots as apparently the wraps don't contain well although the nappies are excellent.

http://www.usednappies.co.uk/index.php list nappies ebay style, a good way of trying nappies out on the cheap. I've used the site and have recieved nappies in good condition

If your newly pregnant than buy a couple a month (or save the cash) and you'll soon find you'll have a complete set (20 to wash every 3rd day) and it won't hurt your bank balance like it would to just spend £240 in one go
