Hi again, im in a moaning mood today, this is my 3rd post girls lol

For the past few weeks ive had pains in my thighs. And then the past few days its gone into my buttocks, i honestly feel like ive just done a huge cycle run! Is this symptoms of spd? I feel it more when ive been sitting/lying for a while. Or is it just pregnancy pains?

Pain in the bum sounds like what i had Sciatica... it was when my baby was breech and she was lying on the sciatic nerve in my right leg. I was in agony, i couldnt walk, drive or do anything i couldnt even get upstairs!!

The pain was mostly in my bum cheek and then went right down my right leg!

If its not agony then its probably just general pregnany aches! Oh the joy!! LOL! x x x

My SPD was all between my legs and very painful. I suffered badly last time and have it again but not so bad this time. I feel it most when trying to stand up and for the 1st few steps - once I'm on the go it's ok. Turning over in bed is very painful too.

I do feel it more when I've sat or lain down for a while and try to get up again. Have you tried a support belt?

I have spd too and for me it started in the pubic area but has now spread as I also have pelvic girdle pain.

I have put a website below for you - I've found it great!

hi sb, my mw is not supportive at all and says there is nothing they can do for it. but i swear its never felt like this before if it carries on i'm gonna take myself to labour ward and demand they do something. i was so worried yesterday thinking about how i'm gonna manage the school run all week and the housework. i swear i though my whole pelvis was going to collapse or something?? so strange. i'm like a dysfunctional duck in the night when i go for a wee, its crazy lol

can't you ask to see a consultant or something?

I know what you mean about the pelvis, mine "went" this week and my midwife confirmed I have pelvic girdle pain too. It feels like if you move too quickly or something everything will fall round your ankles?? It is the most bizarre feeling ever!

Can someone help with the school run? maybe one of their friends mum or something? as for the housework - leave it!! or get a cleaner Happy

Hi, i have SPD too, its agony, althought there are good days and bad days. I went to my GP as my midwives are different every time, and a complete waste of space, and he referred me to a physiotherapist, they gave me an appt in three days.

they can help with supprt belts, crutches etc.

i really feel for you that sounds horrendous, dont know how you are coping with the kids as well as the pain of this, good luck

try calling the hospital where you are booked in. I was referred to my consultant by the midwife but if she's already being awkward it might be worth trying to call the hospital directly as you don't have a lot of time,

Or - see your doctor and see if they can help, although they can sometimes be awkward and not want to get involved.

I went to the physio and found the support belt useless, am currently waiting for the crutches WhateeeEver! They also gave me some exercises and advice but its all stuff I was already doing.

hi, yeah had the belt before it didnt work either, crutches?? it would be quicker to go buy some i think might get oh to take me for some. Ive not heard of being induced before because of it, i was only aware were supposed to just put up with it?? but i swear if it carries on this bad next night or so i'm ringing labour ward. i think giving birth aint as bad as this pain. watch it be something other than spd lol knowing me it will be something completely different lol

when I saw the physio she said that if it got too bad she would imagine they would induce me - might be in different areas, plus she wasn't a midwife so might've been wrong.

She also measured my pain free gap - this was to make sure that I'm not overstretched during exams and labour. You can get other half to do it so you know you're limits and can mention it during labour. Last thing you need is to have an epidural, not be able to feel anything and get overstretched and do some damage!!

To measure it, I had to lie down with knees up, then slowly lower my knees to open my legs and she measured the gap between my knees when it started to hurt.

ok, will have a go at finding my pain thing lol thanks if i can get myself lied down lol. Well i know i will defo be staying away from the epidural no matter what had a bad experience with my first with that!! Think i will ring hospital tommorow, but i'm sure they will tell me to speak to my mw who will just not do anything at all anyway, hence maybe the big dramatic trip to the labour/triage ward will have to happen.

Oh Sara it sounds like your having a awful time!
Are you under the antenatal consultants at all for your pregnancy? If you are just ring the clinic at the hospital and speak to your consultants secretary they may be able to get an appointment for you.

I'm seeing mine this Thursday morning-I called to move it earlier but he was away. To be honest I have spoken to a midwife and decided to see if they will do a sweep at 38 weeks to see if the little madam is ready to move! I now have to use my crutches to go almost anywhere more than a quick cup of tea round my nans. You can use arnica gel for the pain-homeopathic anti inflammetory! (sp?)

Good luck and I hope they can do something for you soon!!
Lydia xx
