Subject : Sharing a room with Big Bruv

Ethan is 17 months and happy in his cot but I was thinking of letting him share with Daniel (6) and turning Ethan's room into a playroom cos it's quite small for a bed.

Do you think I would be better getting him used to sharing with Daniel while he's still in a cot or letting him get settled in a bed in his own room first then moving him?

I thought he'd be better getting used to a bed first cos if he keeps getting out then he won't wake Daniel up if he's still in his own room. On the other hand once he's used to his bed I don't want to then spoil it by putting him in with Daniel and then if he starts getting out I've gone a step backwards.

Is sharing just a bad idea? Confused

Your thoughts are, as usual, very much appreciated
xx.

well my reply's not gonna be much help because actually i've been thinking exactly the same thing! my son is 9 months and my eldest was 3 in june. at the moment they're really close and every night zach asks if noah can go for a cuddle in his bed and if he can stay with him. zach loves his room though its his pictures and his toys and he likes going in there so he might feel a bit invaded. it would be nice to have them share i would probably wait til noah was a bit older but i'm not sure about the bed thing.
I know people who put all their children in together and says it works really well. one woman has twin girls and a boy toddler and a new baby girl and she says the baby will go in the same room too. they love it. she did say they don't keep any toys in there - they go in and go to sleep.
I'd be really interested in knowing what people think to this. Also if you have a small room and a bigger room would you try and get the beds in the smaller room and have a big play space? my hubbys not so keen but i really like the idea and if they want their own space as they get older they can swop back.

Hi, when I was pregnant with my third child I knew I would have to get the older two to share, my middle child was two when he came out of his cot but I didn't move him in with his sister imediatly, i let him get used to his bed for about 2 months and then moved him in with his sister, it worked very well doing that, the only thing I will say is do the move on a Friday or school hols as they will mess about for quite a while till they get used to sharing, it is all such a great big adventure sharing with siblings. Now we have to think about moving them all round again as my daughter wants her own room and we will put the two boys in together!!

I'm just in middle of getting my 2 to share- it's not going so well at mo! But then again my eldest is 16 months and youngest 4 months so it's a big change for them both...Lily is now in a toddler bed and Evie is in the big cot. Both kept waking up through the night last night so am expecting another sleepless night! But it has to be done for us as we only have 2 bedrooms. It doesn't help that Lily's getting her very back teeth at mo and Evie has just had jabs...but if I waited for a good time to try it I don't think it would happen!

Sorry it's not advice really, just sharing!
